The main objectives of the research are: to study the action of the drug warfarin, to analyse and evaluate the role of warfarin in the treatment of diseases and illnesses affecting the cardiovascular system, and survey new research developments in oral anticoagulants in which bleeding risks will be less. The hypothesis is that evidence based on research would prove warfarin to be currently the most convenient and widely used anticoagulant. The background of the study is that, in 1960, it was established that anticoagulation reduced the risk of death and of recurrent embolism in patients with pulmonary embolism.

Administering warfarin as an anticoagulant has been continued until the present day. The use of warfarin in deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and atrial fibrillation will be studied in depth. The results are that warfarin is currently widely used in treating cardiovascular conditions. Other new drugs have been developed, but all have certain limitations and complications like bleeding, which is caused by continued use. It is essential to develop new oral anticoagulants with improved risk-benefit ratio reducing the need for risk stratification.

Furthermore, it is required that new antithrombotic agents should be developed and introduced together with effective antidotes. This paper presents a study of the use of the drug Warfarin in the treatment of diseases and illnesses affecting the cardiovascular system, with the special focus on the conditions: Atrial Fibrillation, Pulmonary Embolism, and Deep Vein Thrombosis.Diseases of the Cardiovascular System: Great advances have been made in the management and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, and ongoing research and formulation of new results are used in evidence-based best practice.

Warfarin: Warfarin (coumarin, dicoumarol) is the most important anticoagulant, and acts as a Vitamin K antagonist, thereby inhibiting production of prothrombin and factors II, VII, IX, and X by the liver. It is effective only in vivo. Although slow in onset (one to two days), warfarin can provide effective support for up to five days. Several factors such as disease and drugs affect the sensitivity to warfarin.
