Healthcare Sciences and MedicineThe effect of regulating the healthcare industry like Wall Street is that it will become a multimillion dollar industry that is more concerned with advanced technology, the collection of personal data and federal regulations. It would care less about the doctor’s role in saving lives and treating patients. One area that shows this trend clearly is the health information technology section. At least two-thirds of medical institutions have an electronic health records system.

Although this technology helps the physician make better decisions than before, the outstanding issue is to what level it makes healthcare better and its cost (Morone, 2008).The healthcare system is under the control of insurance companies, the government, hospitals and pharmaceuticals. Medicare does not cater for more than 10 to 15 percent of the total cost. Therefore, the major stakeholders in the industry get all the profits. Besides, this explains why there are too many tests being done to avoid legal suits based on malpractice.

The resulting medical bills are hurting Americans not because of Obama Care, although it plays a role in the cost of insurance. When Americans visit healthcare clinics, they are subjected to so much code that they are unaware how much they will be charged (Christensen, Floyd & Maffett, 2014).Politics undermines the capacity of the healthcare industry to take care of its patients. They offer patterns that encourage obesity as well as chronic disease. Healthcare currently consumes a large share of the federal budget.

The outcomes of money in politics are becoming too significant to ignore. Since money rules politics, then the nation is exposed to foods that cause more diseases. These include soda and processed foods because the corporations that make these foods contribute to the political bids of the politicians. Such firms enjoy unlimited marketing of high-sugar content food that is of the lowest quality (Morone, 2008).ReferencesChristensen, H. B., Floyd, E., & Maffett, M. G. (2014). The effects of price transparency regulation on prices in the healthcare industry.
