When we are in bad health, we are in pain and suffering. This has an adverse effect on our personal as well as social life. We cannot enjoy life or fulfill our duties and responsibilities towards others effectively.
From the social perspective, health care is important because it keeps the people in good health so that they can perform the duties and responsibilities toward each other and the society at large effectively. Good health enables the people to make optimal use of their competencies and capabilities in the work so that their productivity is enhanced, and the businesses are made profitable. This ultimately has a positive effect on the economy of the country as a result of which the standard of living of the society is improved and the society finds more opportunities for growth and advancement.
Challenges Related to the Delivery of Health Care and Its Implications for the Health Care Administrators
The health care industry faces a lot of challenges in the contemporary age. “Healthcare is one of today’s most dynamic and growing fields, with a wide range of opportunities and challenges” (healthmanagementcareers.com, n.d.). Challenges related to the delivery of health care include but are not limited to new and emerging diseases in different areas of the world that were previously very rare to occur like bird flu and different kinds of viral infections, risky health behaviors that have become fundamental essentials of the contemporary lifestyle like consumption of junk food and lack of the use of contraception, and the frequent occurrence of such natural disasters as earthquakes, storms, and hurricanes that call for the need of addressing the health care issues in an emergency.

One such challenging situation in the delivery of health care has recently occurred in the form of Hurricane Sandy that has caused immense loss of life and property in different states of America in addition to posing various threats to the USA economy.
Such natural disasters have numerous implications for health care administrators. They have to immediately reschedule their programs to prioritize the delivery of health care and the use of resources. “Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today declared a public health emergency for New York in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, which made landfall on the East Coast Monday evening” (hhs.gov, 2012). In response to Hurricane Sandy, 9 teams of disaster medical assistance, have started to provide the health care services inside the shelters of New York City along with several medical supplies caches and the US Public Health Services Officers’ team.
