Northridge Community ProfileNorthridge is a community which is located in the city of Los Angeles at the San Fernando Valley. It is 17 square miles in area. The community is composed of approximately twenty thousand households (Scott, 2010). The paper below serves to profile this community in terms of the people living within the community, activities and areas of interaction. It also serves to expound on the responsibility of individuals and the community to each other. The community is composed of an aggregate from different backgrounds.

Majority of the people in the community are white; who make up approximately three quarters of the population. The rest is composed of Hispanics, Asians, African American and Native Americans (Scott, 2010).The people of the community engage in various economical practices. It has farmers who engage in livestock trade in cattle ranches and chicken rearing. Another activity that the community engages in is matters of fashion. Northridge fashion Center provides employment to the people in the fashion industry.

There is also a medical complex that manufactures medical equipments pertaining to diabetes. The complex also engages in research and development of medical equipments. About 1,800 people work within this complex (Scott, 2010). Another major employee in the community is the Northridge Hospital. This provides employment to many medical staff and professionals including casual workers. There is an orange grove within the community. In addition, some of the locals engage in small scale orange farming.

They have residential yards with orange trees.There is a recreation centre in Northridge community. This serves as a crucial interaction centre to the community members. The Recreation Centre in Northridge is composed of an indoor gymnasium, which can be used as an auditorium (Scott, 2010). There is also a Park within the same locality. It has barbecue pits where the locals can gather for feasting. It also has baseball and an indoor basketball court. Community rooms and picnic tables further serve to enhance interaction between various members of the society.

The park houses the Knights Football, Mascot. The team is composed of a non-profit club. This club has provided opportunities to the local members to participate in sports that have been locally organized. There are also camping programs within the Park. All these serve to tighten the bond between various community members via positive interactions (Scott, 2010).The individuals within the community are tasked with the responsibility of knowing the public problems that face Northridge. It is their responsibility to work in unison so as to come up and implement solutions to these problems.

They also have the responsibility of fighting injustices within the locality and righting wrongs in the community. The community is also composed of philanthropic people who have set up foundations to support struggling groups within the location; hence, promoting human rights (Scott, 2010).The community is charged with the general welfare of its constituents. One of the welfare that is pertinent is proper health provision. Hospital Medical center in Northridge is tasked with this responsibility.

It is also the responsibility of the community to ensure that there is satisfactory security to the locals. Security is provided by a local police department and the fire department. Education has also been enhanced in the community via various learning institutions, including a State University. In general, it is the duty if community to ensure that proper living condition, well being and rights of the individuals are met (Scott, 2010).As a member of the community, social responsibility is the act of impacting positively within the community/society.

A person who is socially responsible is sensitive to the people and things that are in the surrounding environment. Social responsibility also means engaging oneself with activities that are aimed at improving the community where one resides.
