Career in Pharmacy - Admission/Application Essay Example

My name is Hung Nguyen and I am 22 years of age. I am of Vietnamese origin and I came to the U.S. from Vietnam four years ago with the aim of making a mark for myself in the field of Medical Pharmacy. It is indeed a noble profession to work as a Doctor of Pharmacy, and it would certainly give me immense satisfaction to cater to the medical needs of my fellow-humans. However, apart from my humanistic perspective, I do have certain personal reasons for taking up with course in particular. My mother is a victim of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura.

This is a disease wherein the number of platelets becomes abnormally low, giving rise to numerous complications. The reason for the low count of platelets is not very evident and treatment is quite complicated. Viewing my own family suffers on account of this disease has created a strong urge in me to take up this course and to serve the numerous others who have been victimized by diseases. I would definitely work to the best of my ability in making a mark for myself in this profession and this course is of great importance to me, as it would help me realize the dreams of my family and myself.

In addition to this, it would also pave the way for a responsible Doctor of Pharmacy in the making, whose sole aim is the betterment of human life and welfare. I believe in doing my bit to society and I hope I am given the opportunity to make my dreams a reality.
