? College Summary of evaluation plan Health promotion is a very important process in ensuring that people have control over their health. In most cases, the whole process is always considered to be political and social. Evaluation is the process of coming up with a judgment after thorough appraisal of given situations. Artreach is one of the health promotion programs that have been set to benefit the women in the society. This paper critically evaluates the program so as to come up with a judgment on how efficient the program is to the society. The evaluation involves data collection and analysis of the data collected from the members. Once the data has been collected, it is analyzed to determine if it is in agreement with the set goals and objectives of the whole program. Literature on similar programs is also looked into to know if indeed the program is successful as compared to other similar programs. The advantages that the program brings to the society as well as the activities that are involved in the program are discussed. The evaluation also looks at the members who have left the program and the reason behind them leaving the program. This information is used to determine the relevance of the program to the society (Grembowski, 2001). The program Artreach is one of the programs that is set up by a community with the main aim of reaching out to young women between the ages of 16 to 25 and equip them with some life skills through art therapy. Through this program, women can express what is important in their lives through art. The creative process enables them to create whatever is in their mind through art thereby providing a kind of therapy. With this kind of program, the women are able to create whatever is significant in their lives as well as be able to develop some of their life skills with visualization (Shortell, 2008). After their creation of the things that are significant in their lives, the women still have the chance to present and show off their entire work to the outside world through the exhibition that is always presented every year. The exhibition is generally set to provide the women with an opportunity to admire their creations. There are four community partners who will run this program. This is the Geelog, Karingal, Geelog mood and the Encompasss. These community partners are very important in bringing in community support for the women. His they do by providing the funds and the support that the women need in order to achieve their objectives. There are various programs that are similar to this program and that have been successful. First is the Drawprog; this is a program that was in Africa and provided the youth with an opportunity to earn a living through their creations in art. Being a community owned service; the youths would create drawings and carvings that the group would later sell to the tourists that visit the area in large numbers. This program not only fetched income for the skilled youth through what they loved, it also provided an opportunity for the community to have more and more tourists. This program also involves the participation of the youths in other activities that would educate them and other peers against unhealthy sex life. Art world is another program that was developed in London. This program as mainly meant to support women who are suffering from stress and trauma caused by either loosing someone or something. In turn the program gives the person an opportunity to express their grievances and sorrows through art. During this process, most patients are able to overcome their sorrows through their interactions with other persons in similar situations. They also get to express their sorrows in various ways which include drawing down and writing down whatever they are feeling. In return, the beneficiaries of this program have brought in more and more members that have made the program more successful in the region (Shortell, 2008). Saidia initiative is one group that is found in Tanzania. It was set due to the rising number of orphans who were found around the beach areas and who could not afford to go to school. In this project, talented artists in the region come together and build artistic substances which they sell to the many tourists who visit their coasts. As a result of this program, many children have been taken back to school and some philanthropic tourists have even gone a step further to facilitate the building of schools around the place. In addition, this program does not just target the financial boosting of the people who work here rather they also tend to provide emotional support to all the members whenever there is a problem that surrounds any member. In London, talented students in local universities around the city have come up with art hope. This is a special program that was started in order to help nature various talents that existed in the students. In this program, students come together to display their best work in art and marks are awarded. The winner of each exhibition always walks out with a certain amount of money. This has not only helped promote art in the local university, but it has also brought in extra revenue as well as a chance for the students to future their artistic careers. The program has also installed some moral values for the students as they are advised on other challenges that directly or indirectly affects their lives (Grembowski, 2001). Evaluation question and evaluation design For any health evaluation to be successful, information on the whole program has to be gathered. The best way to carry out effective information gathering is by the use of appropriate questions that cover the evaluation program. These questions have to be appropriate and they should cover the whole of the program ensuring that every part of the program is looked into critically. There is a criterion that needs to be followed by the person doing the evaluation. First of all, the question needs to be effective; it has to ensure that all the objectives and aims of the program are met. The structure of the questions also has to be appropriate. This means that the questions are relevant to the topic of discussion. Acceptability is another critical issue that needs to be looked into the evaluator has to ensure that the question is carried in an appropriate manner. Equity and efficiency has to be maintained by each question during the whole evaluation process. No part of the program should be left behind rather all parts of the program should be looked into critically (Grembowski, 2001). What are some of the benefits that artreach is bringing to the society; this is one of the most important evaluation questions that should be asked. This question strongly examines the extent to which this program is beneficial to the society. This question brings out all the positive effects of the program in the society and how this is affecting every member of the society. Another question that should be asked is the economic importance of the program on the people around it. This question like the first question looks at the positive financial influence of the program on the people and does not exempt negative financial impact. Is this artreach program effective in achieving the set goals? Every program has its set goals and artreach is no exception. So this question aims at researching the goals that artreach has and how effective it is in achieving these set goals. This can be done by critically examining the activities that the program has and also interviewing the members on how the program has influenced their lives. Once this information has been collected, it has to be analyzed and represented in a statistical map to look at the trend of influence. The question should however be directed to those who have been influenced by the program. What are the goals of artreach program? Every program has its own goals that it has to meet. This question should be directed to the program directors and the people behind the involvement of the program into the society. Needs assessment has to be conducted so that a clear picture is found on the needs of the society that leads to the bringing of the program into the system. The problems are then analyzed using the collected data to find out the goals that the program should have and if the program is doing enough to ensure that the problems that were identified are being solved. How is artreach program doing compared to other program? In other words how effective is this program solving the identified problems as compared to other similar programs. In order to answer this question, one has to critically examine the literature of the given programs to which artreach is compared to and take a keen look at how effective artreach is in solving the problems as compared to the other programs. What are some of the strengths and weaknesses of artreach and how can it is solved. We have to identify indicators that are quantifiable and ones that can be used in the evaluation. Data collection methods The most important tool in evaluating a program is data. Data can be collected through a number of ways. The use of interviews and questioners is important in data collection among the relevant participants. During the evaluation, the women of artreach were gathered and grouped into four groups. Each group was then taken to separate rooms from where the data was collected from them. In the first group, each member was issued with a question are. The questionnaire contained questions that relates to the way that the program has influenced the members. The questioners is a closed one meaning that there are choices for the member to pick without having to give their own opinion on the issue asked. Everyone is given around 20 minutes to complete the filling of the question are without putting the identity in the paper. The second group is given the same question are but an open one. They have the same questions but in this case unlike the first group they have the opportunity to give out the thoughts and views about the whole program. The same questions are given to them an all they have to do is to give out their answers and giving out their opinions too. This is to enable the evaluator to look at the similarity of the answers that the two groups have and if their answers are almost similar. The open questioners is also important in getting the views of the members in terms of the functionality of the program and if the program is indeed on the right track in achieving its goals (Shortell, 2008). The third group is taken into a room and each individual member interviewed about the issues that are affecting the program and if the program is successful. The information is noted down for future use in the data analysis. In the interview, questions may be slightly different from those in the question are. The members of staff should also be involved in the interview. Once this is done, the fourth group is to have an open interview in which they discuss the challenges that the whole program has and how beneficial it is to them. Financial history is also an important aspect to be collected. Financial information of artreach and how it is influencing the members should be studied keenly. The members have to look at how the program has had an influence in their lives and how this can be improved. It is however important that this does not involve personal financial information rather the financial influence that the program is having on its members and how this change.
