Community diagnosis: The health promotion plan addresses the case of the mental health anxiety in African American girls. It is geared towards finding out the various causes of the anxiety illness. 2. Target population description: The target group of the health promotion program is African American girls aged between 12-18 years. The girls that participated are from the City of Everett Public School System. 3. Program goals and objectives: The health promotion program objectives are: a.

Improve the mental well-being by preventing anxiety disease through access to correct and standard mental health services, b. implement various treatment programs to enhance the mental well-being of the African American girls. Program goals include: a. improve anxiety related illness of teenage girls in the City of Everett Public School System, b. Eradicate the cases of anxiety among teenage girls in the City of Everett Public School System.4. Theory: The health promotion program is founded by the cognitive model of anxiety.

The framework looks at anxiety from the perspective of vulnerability and describes the appraisal of threat (Clark & Beck, 2011).5. Program activities: The health promotion program main activity is to assess the African American girls between 12-18 years in the City of Everett Public School system. The girls are then put in different groups to utilize one specific treatment that will give different results for comparison to determine the best option.6. Resources and constraints: The resources available for the health promotion program include experiential support references got from different studies to help in determining the effective treatment.

The community serves as an important resource to help identify acceptable cultural behaviors that are applicable to the health promotion program. The constraints in the health promotion program include insufficient resources that cannot see the program to the end. There is also a challenge from the perspective of the students who do not adhere to the established treatment sessions.7. Program evaluation: The health promotion program evaluation focus on health promotion program implementation. The evaluation also looks into the health promotion program impact and efficiency.

Challenges faced in creating the health promotion program and how they were overcomeThe challenge encountered in creating the health promotion program plan included information strategies were not enough to influence the prime behavior because there is competition with the numerous information that the African American girls are exposed to. There is also the difficulty in making sure the information flows in two ways enabling mutual understanding of the African American girls and the professionals.

To overcome these challenges I introduced the health promotion program to the African American girls in a debate setting. In this environment, the African American girls came into contact with the health professionals involved. The participants also expressed their difficulties and the fears they encountered in their lives. As far as the objectives and goals go, how will you measure if they have been achieved or not?The objectives and goals will be measured by the number of African American girls aged 12-18 years that will have recovered from anxiety during the time the health promotion program will run.

If the number of African American Girls suffering from anxiety will not reduce then the health promotion program will not achieve its goals and objectives. Is there a specific percentage or number you are aiming for with regards to the reduction of mental illness? For this health promotion program to be declared a success at least 50% of the African American Girls should have recovered from anxiety within six months to an year. The remaining 50% should recover in the second year. How would you narrow down the category of “mental illness” to a certain disease to make it easier to measure outcomes?

In order to recognize the category of mental illness that is under study DSM is utilized to get the specific disorder. The DSM enables communication among the mental health professionals from the perspective of diagnosis (Clark & Beck, 2011). The DSM describes mental illness according to their signs and symptoms. In the health promotion program the DSM is used to describe the symptoms of anxiety in African American Girls to be able to differentiate them from other types of mental illnesses (Slade, 2009).

If you were to put this program in place what would be a timeframe in which you would plan to conduct this program? The health promotion program should be conducted for two years to get satisfying results. This timeframe will be enough to analyze the outcomes of the various treatments and the total number of African American girls who recovered.ReferencesClark, D. A., & Beck, A. T. (2011). Cognitive therapy of anxiety disorders: Science andpractice. New York: Guilford Press.Slade, M. (2009). Personal recovery and mental illness: A guide for mental health professionals.
