Bariatric Surgery and Type 2 Diabetes Introduction The prevalence of obesity and type 2 diabetes is gradually rising. The rate of obesity being detected in children is alarming because it is an implication that obesity will get worse in the future. In most cases, obesity and type 2 diabetes goes hand in hand. It has been suggested that Bariatric surgery can help in the reversal of type 3 diabetes. Research has confirmed that type 2 diabetes can be reduced by the reduction of fat mass (Taylor, 2013).

A surgical procedure that aims at reducing fat mass can help in the reversal of type 2 diabetes.Problem StatementThe increase in Type 2 Diabetes has prompted an alternative treatment for the diabetes that does not respond to changes in lifestyle. The American Diabetes Association has reported that Bariatric Surgery should be considered for adults with Type 2 diabetes. Furthermore, Advocacy and Outreach report that observational studies show that weight loss surgeries can improve glycemic control and cause diabetes remission in obese patients suffering from type 2 diabetes (Taylor, 2013).

In the case of bariatric surgery and type 2 diabetes, evaluation design will consider the factors like the availability of qualified doctors, risks associated with a surgery, obesity prevalence, and the circumstances that might lead to the establishment of surgery as the solution.

The effectiveness of Bariatric surgery relies on a number of factors that should be carefully analyzed prior to surgery.Research DesignThe research will use evaluation design to determine the impact of Bariatric surgery on type 2 diabetes.
