It is applied to many cultures. In the U.S.A, not all women’s preference for mate selection is relative to men’s resources. Attracting a committed or casual mate requires displays. Men and women need to advertise their wares on the mating market because men’s and women’s desires differ. The evolution of male strategies for displaying is resources, commitment, physical prowess, bravado and self- confidence. The evolution of female strategies for displaying is enhancing appearance, fidelity and sexual signals. 6. According to the author, men who devote a lot of attention to enhancing their appearance can hurt their competitive chances, as people infer that they are homosexual.

I think this is not true. In contemporary times, there are many men’s skin care products, and more men are heading to the spa for massage, manicures, facials, or even waxing because we are currently living in a world strongly based on how people look. Looking good can take you to better positions, better looking women and even better jobs -and not because you are homosexual but just because the world places a premium on how you look and appear to them (Author Last name, page 111).
