It involves physical aggression or assault, or even threats leading to emotional abuse, domination, intimidation, and economic deprivation. Domestic violence is all about power and control over another person. Victims of domestic violence can be anyone regardless of gender, size, or even strength. Many people often overlook domestic violence especially when the abuse is psychological rather than physical. Although minimized, emotional abuse leaves deep and lasting scars in an individual’s life. It is a complex issue affecting the global society. Some people tend to ignore and assume the problem pretending and neglecting the problem. Domestic violence is not only a physical assault but also an emotional problem (Buzawa, Carl, and Stark, 418). Victims of domestic violence tend to suffer alone due to lack of acknowledgement of their torture. For instance, noticing and acknowledging the signs and symptoms of domestic violence is the first step to put an end to it. Despite the believe that domestic violence is associated with the abuser’s loss of control over his or her behavior, the fact remains that the abusive behavior is a deliberate choice of the abuser to take control of the individual. To date the response to domestic violence has been patchy and a piecemeal. There are several reasons why individuals should do more to eradicate the issue of domestic violence. Domestic violence has most of its negative impact on the health of an individual. It is evident that in most case where domestic violence is involved, the abusive ends up either physically or emotionally hurt (Buzawa, Carl, and Stark, 377). Many victims associated with physical domestic violence always experience body injuries. Sometimes an individual may find him/her self in hospital nursing wounds. Arguably, domestic violence does not only impart on the person physically but also psychologically. Although this form of violence heals after a short period, the victim remains with the memories all through his/her lifetime. This problem becomes a scar never to be erased or forgotten despite the measures taken to forget. Therefore, as serious problem facing the health of an individual, domestic violence is an issue that people need to put more consideration in the society (Jaffe, Lemon, and Poisson, 6). Domestic violence affects the society negatively by lowering the society’s production. Many people who fall victims of domestic violence lack the strength and desire to enhance economic growth. Some especially those physically assaulted become weak in carrying out production activities. Domestic violence negatively affects an individual’s work either in form of missed work, lateness in the working place, job promotions, and also keeping or maintaining the job. Therefore, the performance of a company declines due to poor out put of the victim (Buzawa, Carl, and Stark, 374). Its economic growth declines drastically subsequently leading to global economic decline. Another economic impact of domestic violence to the society is the expense incurred in providing health care services. Physical assaulted people tend to seek frequent medical care thus waste much time required to enhance the development of the country’s economy. Health insurance companies always spend a lot in catering for medical expenses for the domestic violence victims. Guidance and counseling sessions limit the time required to provide essential work force for the country’s economic growth. Since domestic violence is very diverse, it leads to criminal cases such as rape, theft, child withdrawal, or even murder. These cases drive the abusive in court. The abusive ultimately often incurs a lot of expense in trying to relieve him/her from the bondage. An individual may be robbed or deprived the right to his/her property by the abuser in control. This may result to complete loss possession of the abusive. In most cases when a child experiences domestic violence, the child tends to be secluded and attains hatred for the abusive parent. This may result to poor child-parent relationship and poor performance in school (Pandey, 80). Contrary some people think that domestic violence is only an exaggerated issue that people should not put much consideration. They argue that domestic violence in most cases involves slaps and it acts reasonable to report someone for either slapping or kicking. Scholarly research depicts that medical statistics prove that most of the women and men who end up in hospitals for medical care of injuries do not have their basis on domestic violence. Most of the injuries arise from animal attacks or carelessness. Therefore, these people argue that the issue of domestic violence is greatly exaggerated in the society. In addition, it is in rare cases where an individual reports cases of domestic violence to the authority. Despite the fact that victims argue that fear hinders them from reporting domestic violence issues to the authority, they remain ignorant, and bear with their suffering thus depicting that domestic violence is not a pressuring issue in the society. The victims remain reluctant in exposing their suffering in fear of being mocked and despised (Jaffe, Lemon and Poisson 10). This evidences why domestic violence portrays an exaggerated matter and not a serious matter in the society. In conclusion, despite the controversy in coming to an agreement on whether domestic violence domestic violence remains a major concern or not, research has proved beyond reasonable doubt that domestic violence is a problem people need to do more to curb it rather than an exaggerated matter. According to the research conducted, domestic violence is a matter at hand that people ought to put more consideration. Domestic violence lingers to be a problem not exaggerated. It should not at any cost be ignored in the society since it causes bigger crisis. Deserting domestic violence and pretending blind to it does not solve the problem. Many people who fall victims of domestic violence do not have the courage to report the matter. It is the responsibility of each individual to ensure that domestic violence does not occur in the society. The government ought to intervene and make sure that it provides support to the victims by keeping them away from domestic violence and other relating problems thus giving them their rights back (Buzawa, Carl, and Stark, 149).
