?Personal Philosophy room Management misbehave in the room for a variety of reasons. Some may be suffering from lack of attention at home, divorce of parents, or a need for attention from their teacher. The students who misbehave in class need a structured classroom management plan to assist with their behavior and learning. Students are normally attentive when the classroom lesson is presented in stimulating and insightful ways. Group interaction is an excellent way to manage students who misbehave in the classroom. The classroom management plan should include solutions for resolving issues with students who misbehave; the lessons should be presented in ways that creates interactions between the students and the teacher. Classroom Management Plan A classroom management plan is an organized plan that assists the teacher in managing his or her classroom. Classroom management plans are designed in various forms, such as computer-aided instruction, student groups, or student interaction with the teacher. When establishing a classroom management plan, the teacher must analyze the classroom lessons as well as the classroom environment. These are two important elements that guide the way the classroom learning is structured. The classroom management plan is designed in an effort to establish ways to structure the classroom lessons for an effective learning environment. Creating a classroom management plan gives the teacher an outline of how the lessons should be presented to the class. Effective Classroom Management Plan I believe that it is important to establish an effective classroom management plan to guide the classroom learning environment. A classroom management plan that is effective identifies the student problem areas. It allows the teacher to establish solutions for correcting problems that students may have in understanding the lessons. Who is affected by the classroom management plan? The teacher and the students are affected by the classroom management plan. The teacher is affected by the classroom management plan because it provides the teacher with an outline to follow when teaching the class. It allows the teacher to visually see how the lessons affect the students based on how the lessons are presented to the class. Along with the teacher, the students are affected by the use of a classroom management plan; it helps the students understand organization skills, management skills, and classroom structure. My Personal Philosophy of Classroom Management My personal philosophy of classroom management has ultimately been influenced or shaped from my home, social, and educational experiences. In my home environment, I was required to study as soon as I came home from school. I was not allowed to play until my studying and homework was completed. I understood this structure, and I followed this plan as soon as I came home. My social structure or environment shaped my personal philosophy of classroom management. I was always told to study hard and follow a plan for managing my class assignments and homework. In school, I learned the proper ways to study. My educational experiences shaped my personal philosophy of classroom management. My classroom setup was a mixture of student teams, computer-aided instruction, and individual learning. The teacher allowed us to interact with the lesson by responding to questions and providing our explanations for the assignment. Theoretical Perspective for my personal theory of Classroom Management My theoretical perspective that best describes my personal theory of classroom management is B.F. Skinner’s Operant Conditioning Theory. According to B.F. Skinner, “learning is a function of change in overt behavior. Changes in behavior are the result of an individual's response to events (stimuli) that occur in the environment. A response produces a consequence such as defining a word, hitting a ball, or solving a math problem. When a particular Stimulus-Response (S-R) pattern is reinforced (rewarded), the individual is conditioned to respond. The distinctive characteristic of operant conditioning relative to previous forms of behaviorism is that the organism can emit responses instead of only eliciting response due to an external stimulus.” B.F. Skinner’s Operant Conditioning Theory designed a pattern for classroom learning. This theory is designed for group interaction between the students and the teacher. Impact of my personal philosophy on my Classroom Management Plan My personal philosophy on B.F. Skinner’s Operant Conditioning Theory on classroom management greatly impacts my classroom management plan. B.F. Skinner’s theory is based on a response or stimuli from the learning environment. When the response is reinforced by a reward, the student is conditioned to the response. In the classroom, students should be rewarded for their responses to help reinforce them to continue with the response. My personal philosophy compared to the world and media portrayal of today’s education The world and the media portray education similar to my personal philosophy of education. I believe that students should learn from a direct instruction approach or “a rigorously developed, highly scripted method for teaching that is fast-paced and provides constant interaction between students and the teacher.” Learning should evolve from various sources, such as technology, group discussions, classroom lectures, and outdoor field trips. Students should be allowed to explore learning independently as well. This will allow them to develop critical thinking skills when solving difficult problems. Students should be allowed to learn from other students, and each student should share their learning experience. In society, learning is portrayed similar to my personal philosophy on education. Society teaches students to exercise their technology skills. The internet, laptops, tablets, notebooks, and various educational tools are designed to assist with student learning. Society advertises the uses of technology in the classroom. Society also portrays student-learning in teams and independently. Classroom learning is excellent when students are allowed to learn through a variety of options. Conclusion A classroom management plan is an excellent way to manage the classroom lessons and control the student-learning environment. Establishing a classroom management plan allows the classroom to flow in a professional manner, and it teaches the students classroom structure. Designing a classroom management plan that emphasizes in a direct instruction approach and involves the students working collaborative in groups and interacting with the teacher is excellent for classroom learning. This approach creates an easy learning environment, and it provides structure in the classroom. Designing a classroom management plan based on B.F. Skinner’s Operant Conditioning Theory is an excellent way to manage the classroom learning and control the students’ behaviors. With this theory, the students learn through interaction with the teacher. The students are guided through the learning process, and once the desired response is given from the students, they are rewarded for their learning. Society has impacted the way learning is structured in the classroom. Teachers are utilizing technology to teach their lessons, and students are becoming familiar with using technology as a medium source for learning. Works Cited Groepl, Jennifer.
