Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955, in San Francisco. From his childhood, he exhibited behaviour problems especially while he was in elementary school. When a teacher in fourth grade treated him by bribing him with candy and money in order to control his behaviour in the class, he recounted that such behaviour would later land him in jail and he restrained himself from such bad behaviour. His middle school thus became quite chaotic and this caused his parents to think of moving to Los Altos where he could meet many engineers and professionals from some of the technology-start up companies including HP (Frinkle and Mallin, 2010, p. 32). As mentioned earlier, Jobs was highly interested in playing with and the making of small electronic hobby kits, from a very young age.
He became highly interested in electronics and often attended meetings and workshops conducted for the professionals of the Hewlett Packard company. This promoted his abilities and skills in the field and later he found summer employment at HP, where he met the co-founder of Apple Steve Wozniak (Frinkle and Mallin, 2010, p. 32). This job at HP and meeting with Wozniak later paved the way to the establishment of today’s most successful company, Apple Inc.
