The PowerPoint Micro software program was used as an assistant to present images highlighting the topic's key points while helping to keep the text minimal. In the first lesson, different micro-organism pictures were presented on PowerPoint and linked to discussions of how micro-organisms are widely diverse in shapes and colors even within the same classification. Following this was a presentation of images of different micro-organism environments, which can be used as an assistant tool for questioning teaching methods that are carried out at the start of the lesson, such as by asking where do micro-organisms live?
Students were asked to select the picture of which micro-organisms can live in which specific environment (appendix). A microscope picture was also included and it was linked to an entire class discussion activity of Tudor time and the reasons behind their lack of knowledge about micro-organisms. This was used as an introductory before the viewing micro-organisms under microscopes activity was performed. Worksheets of different micro-organisms were planned for the microscope activity. The students were asked to check off the picture that corresponds to the micro-organisms that they can see under the microscope (appendix).
Another worksheet was designed to be completed at the end of the first session to assess students’ progress. This worksheet was structured in a way that the first question was in a simple format and gradually the questions became more advanced and of different complexity. There were also questions involving filling in the blank with the correct answer and making their answers in complete sentence format (appendix). In the second lesson, the lesson was initiated by recapitulating the material that was taught to students during the first session.
Introductory talk about yeast and its implications in industrial processes came next, followed by discussions of the purposes of yeast fermentation experiments and how to carry out a fair test.
