Ethics and morals are concerned with what is useful for people and society and are likewise depicted as good reasoning. These basically covers; how to carry on with a decent life, our rights and obligations in society, the decency of good or bad things and our moral choices - what is great and terrible? Our ideas of morals have been gotten from religions, theories and societies. Philosophers these days have a tendency to separation moral hypotheses into three ranges: meta-ethics, regularizing morals and connected morals. Meta-ethics manages the way of good judgment. It takes a gander at the starting points and significance of moral standards. Normative-morals are concerned with the substance of good judgments and the criteria for what is correct or off-base. Applied-morals take a gander at questionable subjects like war, every living creatures common sense entitlement and the death penalty. So when a man thinks morally they are thinking about in any event to something pa. Do moral explanations give information about something besides human sentiments and demeanor? Do Morals give an answer to all human questions on behavior and conduct? The moral properties of the world and the things in it exist and continue as before, paying little respect to what individuals think or feel as to whether individuals think about them whatsoever. There are different types of implied ethics these include moral authenticity, is making an impression on actuality of morals, Subjectivism which is giving an impression of one’s particular sentiments, Emotivism communication of one’s emotions and Perspectivism is about giving guidelines. Ethics come from intuition, supernaturalism, consequences of doing something, political powers, and desire to emulate a certain significant person in one’s life among others. In this paper we will be discussing morals and their effects on human being and society at large. Is there really any universally acceptable way of morals? What are the benefits of following them, how does religion affect morals in our everyday life? Is there any universal measure of what is morally right and wrong? Something has really changed in this world and we can no longer look at a certain way of conducting ourselves then just like Satre explains it, we cannot choose what is good for us and have it affirmed as wrong by society, their surely is always a way to justify our choices. What can we really describe as right and wrong thou? Is there any approach to know the contrast in the middle of good and bad? Unlike before the Second World War, religion described a lot on what is right and wrong, but does it still have anything more left to offer? We are continually hearing about how churches have become a universal ground for play, politics, marketing, money making schemes and all sought of things that go against what is described in the holy books law, the bible, Quran and more. Where does reality on these matters lie? Universally right and wrong has become a matter of debate. Like Satre explains you can exclusively debate on what is right and wrong based on your intensions of doing something either to yourself or the person next you. You could choose to do something wrong but justify it as right because the outcome favors you and is not good for the other person, however you can never in life choose to do something that is wrong to yourself. We have become a society of compromise and tolerance in all situations. “In our modern eagerness to be tolerant, we have come to tolerate things which no society can tolerate and remain healthy.” Love thy neighbor as you would love your neighbor to love you, but does you casing harm to your neighbor just to seek attention from authorities really portray right or wrong? This could be an issue that can be argued by universally based on the law that governs society either for the good of the person who did the harm or to show how badly the harmed person was right, regardless of what was really going on. We have become a society that tolerates all in the name of every human being has a right to his own freedom and rights of expression and speech but really is this what freedom is all about? Satre explains freedom as the Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does. It is up to you to give life a meaning.(Mokoka)but is this why society is going astray? Is this the case of a fundamental choice in what is right and wrong solely depends on the end meeting the needs? Morals generally being influenced by religion, politics, consequences of choices, intuition plays a very big role in all these. Based on the human mind, when we are faced with issues beyond our thinking since we figure out the consequences might be really harmful to us or not of great benefit to us we somehow tend to let the brain settle after it has done enough thinking and we let our hearts help lead us into the right conclusions. More often than not that inner voice, inner selfness, inner knowing in us leads us into making the best choice for ourselves with great wonderful results in the end. This helps to avoid a lot of eventualities, most of the time which we are mostly more often than very immature for or are unprepared for. Does intuition however guide the ways of life of many and does it influence our responsibility to others in society? Yes when we make a choice out of our intuition we are generally making a stand for ourselves and the outcome of results that generally affect them. We are all responsible for each other directly and indirectly in society and whatever I do create an image and that image could either build or destroy other people. Freedom is given freely to all but when we make a choice for ourselves out of freedom we should be ready to let others make their choices out of freedom meaning if my intuitional choice and decision on a certain thing was good, it surely affects the whole society in a positive way. for example in terms of religion, if I am a leader of the country and we sit down as a parliament and choose to honor a certain religious holiday observed by that particular religion, it shows that we are recognizing that religion and they are free to practice their believes on that day for the common good of all, this in turns gives a great message to the community that religion is of importance enhancing developing a more religious society. This describes Socrates as he says my description, my choice for all. Satre also says that we choose for all men and that we choose only good. Satre also goes on and says “We are our choices.” (Rosenberg) Might there be a universal code of moral conduct? Just like in every society or in every family there are rules or ethics governing it, yes there must be a universal code of moral conduct. You raise a child telling them that it is wrong to east lots of sugar and they grow up knowing that and regardless of where they end up in life, that do stick by that rule that easting sugar is wrong. Universally for example when Hitler caused an attack on all Jews living in Germany, the world arose to fight this act of in humanism and if the world did not believe in morality Hitler would never have risen and stood up chose to defend himself writing Mein Kampf to defend himself. Different societies in the world may have developed differences in moralities over the years for example on sexual orientation, if same sex marriages are allowed or not but there sure are universal codes of conduct in the world, despite ethical relativism, cultural or Christian values. We believe that killing another human being for whatever reason is universally unacceptable regardless of what crime they may have committed against human nature. Stealing or destruction of another human beings property is universally prohibited. These are just but a few examples that we do have moral values universally known to all. Mostly when people go against universality, they indeed stand up to fight for their actions in a desire to avoid anguish. As so well described by Satre “bad faith” in his book “Being & Nothingness” Here he indicates how it works when a person refuses to accept that his actions do have a wider implication and he is responsible for them (Sartre). Universal morals are there to prevent conflict regardless of our different moralities and believe in our different societies, bringing dialogue amongst disputation communities in the event of disagreements giving a common ground for settlement. This universal morals often do work as a respect to autonomy for each individual and their respective believes, culture race and religion among others. Should we only act morally because of divine will? Does acting morally bring happiness? More often than not morality is solely described as what is allowed by God or not. What is contained in the holy books of law for example the bible or Quran or not. However morality stretches beyond religion. Atheists follow no religion, they however don not believe in killing of human beings, they do not believe that destruction of human property is right, as described in the holy books that we should love one another and we all religious people believe in that, atheists too believe in love just like we do. Divine rule does affect most universal laws and the way we react in certain situations but it’s not really the only thing that determines our will to morality. It has also been justified that morality is basically upon the laws of God. If something has been proven right by God then it’s morally right, if something has been proven wrong then its morally wrong (Louis Pojman) However acting morally right does bring out some happiness in a person as it is a source of joy to always be on the right and act morally in an acceptable manner to all. Acting morally does have great benefits to all and especially society. We are however responsible for each other and the happiness faced by one person for making the right decisions for him are the happiness of the entire society. (Raymond) Morality is a major guiding factor to all in society. It is our way of life and the actions of one person do affect the wellbeing of other people. Our actions are determined by general expectations from society which are norm. what we learn from an early age we carry it though in our lives (Spillane). We should learn to instill morals in our children while they are still young so that these morals do flow through generations to come. Our cultures, religion, race, economic class and such factors really do affect our morals in life but regardless of this divine morality is to be observed by all. We need to live in a happy comfortable world full of joy and that can only be achieved through freedom of decision making, our will to be conservative of what we undertake to do for ourselves in relation to others. Morals guard our society and who it ends up being, let’s uphold these morals and are watchful of what we end up bringing forth into our generations to come.
