Solutions for Climate Change

Global warming is an environmental phenomenon that the world has had to actively deal with for decades, from Earth's rising temperatures to the natural climatic disasters that have taken place on a recurring basis. Climate change has affected the world in many adverse ways, which makes it a very compelling problem that should be addressed at an organizational and individual level. This paper will highlight some of the ways in which climate change can be tackled to ensure that there are no long-lasting effects that could cause irreversible damage to the Earth's core and hence our lives. Climate change has impacted weather conditions all around the world, with increasing floods and cyclones to extreme heat waves and polar vortexes occurring around the world every season, which creates a certain panic and need for rapid response. It is important to analyze and discuss the different causes of climate change in order to discuss the solutions for them.

Another one of the major causes of climate change has been the emissions of greenhouse gasses, and this is the consequence of the atmosphere trapping these gasses and blocking the heat from escaping. Human activities such as forest deforestation, landfill waste, and biomass burning have resulted in emitting harmful gasses that get trapped in the atmosphere and not only harm the ozone layer that protects our planet but are also the reasons for the rising temperature of the Earth's core that causes natural disasters all over the world. Coal and oil are also incredible influences in causing the increase of the greenhouse gasses . Climate change mitigation is one of the ways that greenhouse gasses can contribute less to global warming effects. Climate change mitigation is an overall framework that can be implemented in policies and organizational goals to help decrease the effects of climate change and save the planet. One of the most important components to pay attention to is reducing sources that emit harmful gasses like coal and oil. Renewable energy is necessary for the world to move forwards, and fossil fuel substitutes are necessary. There has been the identification of other energy sources such as wind and hydro systems as well as solar-powered energy to be used as substitutes for the other harmful energy sources. These sources should be used not only in daily activities like electricity for neighborhoods but also should be used to power other energy sources that take up much of the electricity, such as transportation. Cars and buses and most road transportation release chemical and harmful gasses and cause a fair share of the increase in global warming. These reasons are why many public and private transportation companies are trying to create electric cars that can be charged and don't have to use petrol as a fuel. Oil drilling and petrol refinement cause major and irreversible damage to the planet, which is why the use of electric cars is a great initiative and solution to decrease the effects of climate. Hydrogen has also been listed as a substitute for long haul travel of trucks and freight transport that cannot be moved without large batteries, which can create issues .

Climate change has also directly and adversely effected the public health spectrum of the world with research showing direct links between the two. There have been comprehensive case studies that show detailed results over public health issues in different parts of the world. There are some obvious deaths that are caused due to natural disasters which are a consequence of climate change such as cyclones and heatwaves, but there is evidence such as the Vibrio infections that were found in the Baltic Sea due to the changes in temporal and spatial patterns . Deforestation and the cutting down of massive portions of forests and in the process also hurting wildlife has affected climate change adversely. Deforestation also facilitates in increasing greenhouse gasses as cutting down of a large number of trees increases carbon dioxide emissions . Countries all around the world have implemented plantation of trees and created high taxes for cutting down trees. Reforestation is a climate mitigation system that is being supported by climate change experts, while afforestation is also being favored. Afforestation is creating forests where there were none before by planting a large number of trees. It is estimated that at least 1.2 million trees need to be planted in order to somewhat reverse the effects of deforestation, which has been a constant contributor to climate change. Carbon capture is a method that has been discovered to capture carbon dioxide from toxic energy sources such as power plants and store them away rather than release them in the air and thus in the atmosphere. This will help the energy industry as well as mitigate the effects of climate change. This method has been tried and tested in a breakthrough experiment where in Iceland the carbon capture storage method was a success and stored under the ground and has turned into the stone making it difficult for it to affect the environment, this is a great mitigation system as well as cost-effective since many renewable energy plants have high overhead and running cost.

As solutions to climate change have to be included in almost all aspects of the infrastructure, it is essential to also implement these solutions into engineering with geoengineering. Climate engineering extends to ocean fertilization that also helps in reducing carbon dioxide emissions through increasing marine food production. Solar radiation management is also one of the key aspects of climate engineering, and that is a process to reduce the earth's solar radiation in a way to manage the effects of greenhouse gasses. Solar radiation management is one of the few climate change mitigation strategies that is met with skepticism instead of a unanimous consensus. Geoengineering practices have been controversial due to their nature of work being extensive and requiring extreme measures. These practices have been called the last measures due to these properties .

Sustainability measures are the most effective and necessary preventive measures that should be used as solutions to combat climate change. There are also measures that individuals can take, such as recycling and water conservation that can positively impact the planet and help combat climate change. Composting and recycling can help eliminate wastelands and pollution as well as help in the reduction of greenhouse emission, which has been identified as the leading cause of climate change. Recycling not only reduces carbon dioxide emissions but also decreases methane, which is an incredibly toxic greenhouse gas. Recycling also helps in the reduction of extraction of raw materials that can cause harmful effects and help increase global warming, especially in components such as plastic . Water conservation is also a necessary solution to climate change, as there has been an increase in water shortages around the world. Fresh and clean water has been a luxury to many as it is a limited resource. This can help in combatting any future droughts that may take place due to climate change.

Whenever there is talk about combatting climate change a lot of preventive measures and solutions are given, but not many people are aware of these solutions due to less awareness and discussion around these mechanisms which is why it is essential to develop educational policies that can aid in helping children and young adults in how to adopt practices that can help in the prevention of global warming especially since much of the negative contribution to the environment has been due to industrialization and urbanization. A class on the importance of conservation of our planet and guidance on how to practice sustainability should be adopted at an early age, so there is more awareness as it is vital . Over the last few years, there has been a lot of discussion on the sustainability and climate change prevention, but there are unfortunately many people who due to the lack of awareness as mentioned cannot comprehend the dangerous and irreversible situation that the world is going towards. Viral videos and message threads have curated conspiracy theories that push the idea of climate change being a hoax and controlled by organizations. These theories also emphasize the need to develop more awareness that is detailed and touches upon the causes and solutions of climate change. Many conspiracy theorists have made this worldwide phenomenon a political debate, which has resulted in making it hard for policies to be implemented that can help reduce the effects. The Paris Peace Accords and the backing out of the contract that would greatly benefit the environment is one of the ways through which political conspiracy theorists have caused major harm and helped in increasing climate change and cause a detrimental impact on the efforts put forth by organizations. Research has shown that lack of awareness causes conspiracy theorists to believe in the far-fetched lies as well as a feeling of lack of control .

Climate change is in all ways has affected the lives of each individual living on this planet and will continue to do so if preventive and effective measures are not taken. Global warming has increased the chances of natural disasters, which make people lose their families and livelihood and has also caused immense property and economic damage. Wildlife and marine life have been adversely affected by deforestation and polluted waters, which is essential to the world. The bees have also been decreasing in numbers which can cause a reduction in pollination which affects almost all elements of earth's cycle which is why it is incredibly important to save them as they cannot survive in all climates and only a narrow range of temperatures which have been affected by global warming. There are also solutions that can be done at an individual level, such as reducing paper usage by using online methods to communicate or even provide assignments and exams online, using recycled paper is also an easy way to help in the reduction of deforestation. Using glassware instead and cutting down on single plastic use such as water bottles and replacing them with cardboard or even metal use that can be washed and reused. Governments should also impose strict measures on industries and factories that emit an immense amount of pollution and help in providing sustainable alternative measures in public transportation such as electric buses and trams. Solar-powered buses are also an alternative transportation measure that can be implemented. There has been extensive research on the effects of climate change, and many solutions have come out, it is now the responsibility of the state and the citizens of the world to help come together and combat climate change and global warming before the effects become even more severe and irreversible.
