SUSTАINАBLЕ DЕVЕLОРMЕNT
Introduction
It would be very difficult to transverse and conquer the world on a stomach that is empty; agriculture is what gives humans food, fuel among other requirements. Agriculture is involved in the maintenance of the ecosystem, sustaining those living in the rural areas with food and has great effects on the climatic changes; it provides medicine, water and soil conservation and help to control the environment and the economic aspect of the nation. Human requirements and needs food among them are fulfilled by the availability of diversity in agriculture, agriculture in the form of livestock are able to be fed due to the availability of food in the ecosystem, these animals will also in the other hand provide food to the humans in the chain, diversity in agriculture can be achieved where new species of crops can be identified and developed to be incorporated in the human foods which also uses less time to grow and are more nutritious ( Hüseyin 2011 597).
Humans have on the other hand contributed so much on destroying what nature has provided, whatever man is doing starting from finding the food he is going to eat, looking for clothes and heating the procedures he is using are so destructive. From the land to the seas and to the oceans everything is being destroyed by the human activities, humans through industries and factories direct the waste and pollution to the nearby rivers and then these rivers poison the lakes, seas and oceans which are the habitats of fish and other marine animals and will in turn kill them. Humans will cut trees to make firewood and charcoal or make areas for farming extensive without knowing this will affect the climate which makes rain.
Lack of knowledge to nature have led to so much destruction on what nature has given us, mining is leaving bare lands which are breeding grounds to disease causing organisms and unproductive lands, air pollution has also been on the rise leading to global warming and adverse climate changes, people should be well educated on the best ways of treating the ecosystem, nature is very important to the humans and to the rest in the planet where they all rely on this nature and with the lack of one or two components it would make life so complicated.(Rachael 2002 187)
Earth is the only planet that has various natural resources that could support the human life, you will find earth having so many things that the other planets lack for example the green vegetation, rivers, seas, lakes, deserts and mountains and which have a wide range of colors, earth has a great capability of supporting a great ecosystem that can be occupied by humans and a wide variety of animals.
Water and air which supports the human life are provided by the earth planet which is also a provision that makes it to more suitable to support the human life, humans, animals and other living organisms need water and air for their survival, the earth also will provide each organism with the required and the most adaptive environment for anyone survival. Dubai has become so rich with the absence of some of the natural resources such as fresh water and fertile soils to support farming, it has the advantages of having oil reserves, is a country which is a major tourist destination and has invested heavily also in real estate development and has been able to gain a lot of wealth which is used in imports of foods and water purification, with the good governance and the good leadership it has had all the way from the past it has all been able to achieve this, the best thing about nature is that when it does not give you one thing it gives you the other where if well utilized you can get the other you don’t have, Dubai has proved to be a good example to demonstrate this (The Report, Dubai 28).
The water cycle is the process in which the water goes through so that it can get back to the state it was after the cycle, water can inhibit various states which are ice which is its solid form, gas which is in vapor and liquid state which is water. The cycle involves water from the ocean, lakes, rivers and the land vaporizing due to the heating from the sun and the process is known as evaporation, this vapor on reaching high attitudes condenses and forms clouds, this condensed water then precipitates and forms rain water when these clouds become more saturated, when it rains the dry land experience surface runoff where some water is absorbed underground to form underground reservoirs some is absorbed by plants and the other flows back to the ocean and the cycle continues (Christopher 7)
Due to the low temperatures in the polar regions, the water often freezes to form ice, this ice will form a protective mantel from cold to some organisms who are easily adoptable to these extreme conditions, for example there are some bacteria which live in these freezing areas also polar bears are also adopted to inhabit these extremely cold areas. Water and air are a crucial part of our lives and without one of them life would be no more. Water is life and air on the other hand is given in plenty from the role the water plays in the ecosystem (Barbara 166).
In Saudi Arabian desert, the deposits of fossil water which was found was used to irrigate the farmland so as to try and see if there could be sustenance of the food in the country which is the large part of the country is a desert and is unproductive, fossil water which is water that can be found underground in aquifers and can have lived for hundreds of years, this fossil water through pumps directed to the aquifers is pumped to the farmlands and used to grow crops and feed animals. It’s an important point to note that the water is non renewable since the rate at which the aquifer will be drained is so high than the rate it will fill again after.
It is true life on earth relies on a balance, a human will need many things in life of which some of them he will rely on the knowledge and power for others to accomplish, one cannot be a doctor, work at the farmyard, be a mechanic at his own garage and do many more things at the same time without the help of others (Paul 2013 16).
When you walk at a place where you find dense vegetation take a look and what you will see is trees and other plant try to compete to get a glimpse of the sun, this show that the sun is so important to them, in the process off photosynthesis the leaves will absorb the light from the sun, carbon dioxide and water will also be a requirement so as to produce sugar, chlorophyll which is the green pigment found in leaves will provide the medium in which photosynthesis will take place(Bobbie 8).
Humans have benefited largely from the development of trees for decades, starting from the early man who used trees in making shelter, making crude weapons and lighting to the today’s man who uses wood to make sophisticated homes and furniture, man has been able to use trees in many way including (Bobbie 8).
Conclusion
Life expectancy of the poor is short; access to some of the basic requirements like education and medical facilities is difficult for the poor, children labor which is hard for the children of the poor so that the families can make an extra income is also rampant, these children will not be able to get school fees and their parent will opt them being at home or engage them in other small income generating activities, thanks to the modern governments who embrace education where some of them have provided free education services to the poor and also have given cash incentives to poor families to enable them access school and education.
