The paper “Environmental Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility Issues in Relation to the Hotel Industry” is a well-turned example of the term paper on environmental studies. Corporate Social Responsibility (C.S.R) refers to a policy function in which an organization regulates itself. Such a business makes certain that it complies with ethical standards, the spirit of the law and norms. CSR is geared towards ensuring that a company takes responsibility for the outcomes of its actions. A company is therefore able to have a positive impact on the communities, its employees, the environment, among others (Arjan & Robert 2012, p. 265). Corporate Social Responsibility is a term that gained notoriety in the period towards the end of the 1960s and the early 1970s. This term gained much use after the term stakeholder was formed by corporations. A stakeholder refers to the people who are affected by the activities of that corporation. The term stakeholder gained notoriety since companies came to appreciate that their actions had an impact on other people and not just the shareholders. The people who argue for the existence of some aspect of corporate social responsibility is good for the corporation as it makes it possible for such a corporation to make more profits. However, Corporate Social Responsibility does not gain acceptance across the board and critics argue that by engaging in activities other than the core activities of a business, a company gets distracted from its main economic goals.

There are some people who advance the argument that by engaging in activities of the Corporate Social Responsibilities engage in roles which are a preserve of the governments. Corporate Social Responsibility is usually said to be a guide for the principles that a company value stands for. Issues of Corporate Social Responsibility apply mostly to multinational corporations (Gairola 2010, p. 354). The hotel industry is one sector in which issues of corporate social responsibility come into play. The research paper is geared towards establishing the link between the sustainability of the environment and corporate social responsibility with a specific reference to the hotel industry. The environment is a major issue and it is incumbent upon every organization to be concerned about conservation and sustainability of the environment.
