Critique of The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros
3 pages (750 words)
, Book Report/Review
Every single chapter has its own story of young friends and neighbours, as well as slight episodes from Esperanza’s life. This young story teller shows diverse facets of her individual personality using each portrait; outrage, a sense of humour, pity, compassion, optimism, pride, hope, and even shame (Cisneros 45) The book can be read at any phase or chapter and the reader can still get an understanding of what might have happened before each episode or rather what might be happening next.
