Lecturer: The thinking process of writing Ethical Reasoning: Technology in Education essay In the process of writing the Ethical Reasoning: Technology in Education essay, there were various aspects and factors that I had to consider do that I develop a good essay that would adequately address the topic and the same time be informative to the target audience. Additionally, I also faced a number of challenges in the process of coming up with easy, but I had to find ways of dealing with these obstacles. When coming up with the essay, I had to begin by understanding the role of technology in education and the any advancements that have been associated with this dynamic. This revealed that the technological changes are taking place at a faster rate compared to the previous years and its integration in to the education system is something that cannot be delayed or postponed. This because integrating technology into the educational system has a number of advantages including providing access to more information sources, makes it relative easier to supervise learning processes and results in reduced costs when compared against traditional forms of education. The main aim of writing the essay was to explain the manner in which technology should be integrated into education and the advantages that this can provide for educational processes. The essay mainly dwelled on the advantages and benefits that are associated with integrating technology into educational processes. Some of the advantages that were identified in the essay included the fact that it can lead to reduction in costs, it can result in changes and new patterns for library services and the fact that it can result in change in vision and awareness of users of the system among other benefits. Additionally, the essay also mentioned some of the ways through which technology can be integrated in to the educational system and the ramifications for students after when they enter the job market after going through the education system. On the other hand, there are also some views of people who do not consider technology to be beneficial to education that are also included in this essay. Even though there are clear advantages to integrating technology in educational practices, the views developed by the critics are also compelling since they explain explicitly the manner in which they fail to be beneficial. The Ethical Reasoning: Technology in Education was intended for a complex audience that included college students as well as college professors as it dwelled with the ethical quandary of technology in regards to education and future career preparation. The essay intended to demonstrate to the professors the benefits of integrating technology into education system while ensuring that the students understand the benefits it has when they eventually enter the job market. Since the audience of this essay was complicated, it was important that while writing the essay, the content of the essay remains balanced between explaining the aspects and benefits of technology on education to the professors and ensuring that the students are aware of how beneficial it can be to them in future. In the process of writing this essay, I used a number of sources to assist me develop the ideal that I had conceptualized previously. I used an article in the Oxford Review of Education written by Gary Thomas titled Education and Technology in the Third Wave to explain the manner in which there is tension between the outside world and schools in associated with a lack of contiguity between the objectives of education centered in the child and the society’s demand on education. The article explains the manner in which technology provides an opportunity to neutralize the tensions through providing people with more independence while reducing the power of large organizations through exposure of weakness that exist in its structure. Through this article, the essay is able to explain the way education in its perception of the impact of technological changes does not consider the future and its reaction is demonstrated through some forms of stereotyping. The article was also helpful in the essay as far as explaining the challenges to comprehending the impact of technological change while some of the developments in schools are considered as positive effects of changes that have been created by technology. Another article that was used in the essay was found in The Journal of General Education written by Robert Jennings Heinsohn and titled General Education in Technology: An Approach Using Case Studies. This article was critical to explaining the effect of technology on the society (Robert, 37). The article demonstrates the manner in which education can be influenced by technology and how this beneficial to the future of students as they enter the job market. The article uses case study to explain the cultural impacts of technology in a cyclic and humbling manner. The essay also used Making Way for Technology Education written by Senta Raizen from Journal of Science Education and Technology to explain the issues that affect attempts to make technological education a central component of the curriculum in schools. It identifies them as lack of agreement in regards to the main concepts, the outcomes of students and instructional strategies, and the connection of technology education to the school curriculum that is already in particularly the vocational education and the science curriculum. Through the articles discussions of historical relationships between science and technology, the article was critical to writing the essay on Ethical Reasoning: Technology in Education since demonstrated the position of technology in curriculum and the manner in which it should made critical to education. When writing the Ethical Reasoning: Technology in Education essay, there are some challenges that I encountered including making connections between technology and education, and the manner in which they can benefit each other. However, through using the three articles as sources for this essay, it relatively easy to deal with the challenge and come up with an essay that addressed this issue clearly. The same articles also allowed me to come up with an essay that was complex and appealing to my target audience, while at the same time remaining focused on the intended tasks and objectives.
