These shows the comparisons of the two authors in relation to people are expecting more from technology compared to their fellow friends or parents.
Both authors have emphasized on the issue of alone together. Sherry Turkle explains by stating that most of the time we individuals are absorbed in the small pieces of gadgets they carry which may be their phones, ipads or ipods such that even in executive meetings, managers are busy chatting on their phones instead of concentrating on the proceedings of the meeting (Sherry Turkle). It is important to keep eye contact when individuals go on date but this is not the case nowadays with technology since individuals will still look into their phones and start either chatting or browsing. Claudia Wallis agrees with this to where he explains that according to a recent study made, a father who is back from work is not given any attention by his kids who are busy multitasking on their computers and hence gets very little attention or no attention from the kids (Claudia Wallis). This shows how technology has negatively affected the way we interact with fellow friends and relatives.
I agree with both authors that most young people do not know how to communicate. According to Claudia Wallis, this young people spend about 8.5 hours a day media multitasking. This is where they are in the computer throughout messaging friends, browsing the latest finale dates and IMing friends hence this child has no time to go out to socialize with fellow friends or even play hence when this individual is given a chance to communicate with older people, they cannot (Claudia Wallis).
