Extract of sample "Preventing the Children of Poor People in Ireland, from Being a Burden on Their Parents or Country"

It is possible to provide a scheme that will assist the children to grow and become useful people in the society who can feed and clothe the population.

Swift explains that a year old and healthy child provides the most nourishing and delicious meal (2). Therefore, she proposes that the public should reserve 20,000 children and sell the remaining 100,000 to the rich people, who would use them for food. Swift believes that the proposal will reduce the number of children who present many challenges to the country. It will also enable the poorer tenants to afford the basic needs, thus reducing their distress. The proposal will increase the nations’ stock, allowing people to produce and use their own goods in order to ensure the circulation of money within the country (Swift 4). In addition to earning eight shillings sterling every year, it will also relieve their parents of the task of caring for their children.
