Oxfam International Mission ment The mission ment of Oxfam International is “To create lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and social injustice.” This statement of purpose particularly interests me in its brevity and clarity on what the organization intends to do. Moreover, it has been my wish to see a world free of poverty and where justice prevails for everyone irrespective of which part of the world they are from or their ethnicity. Poverty has been a major concern around the world for a very long period of time. People who live in poverty cannot afford basic necessities for, which cuts short their life expectancy.
Poverty and social injustice have deprived many people of their enjoyable livelihood. Many people especially, in developing world, still live under abject poverty and many more die from hunger. By fighting to eradicate poverty and social justice, it is in my opinion that the world will become a better place to live, which makes me admire Oxfam’s mission statement even more. Therefore, because it is in line with my idea of a free world devoid of poverty, hunger and social injustice, Oxfam’s statement of purpose is a big motivation to me. It reflects on the organization’s commitment to establish a better society.
