Military Force and Terrorism 0 Introduction Terrorism is a sort of distinctive movement that causes extreme fear and terror within the minds of common people around the world. It is the activity practiced by terrorists from different regions of the word and these activities can be reduced only through antiterrorism initiatives operated by military forces of all the countries around the world. Terrorist activities across the globe have been increasing day by day. The rising is illegal immigration or forced migration of various individual of diverse culture and religion in different host countries like United Kingdom, United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Europe and many others. However, in order to reduce such type of illegal activities, varied types of laws and acts are introduced by different governments but still the pace of terrorist activities are expanding rapidly. After undergoing extensive research, it can be summarized that in order to reduce the negative impacts of terrorist activities on society by major terrorist group of the world such as Al-Qaeda, Taliban, Irish Republican Army, Lashkar-E-Taiba, Al-Umma Organization, Liberation of Tamil Tigers Eelam (LTTE) etc, governments of all countries need to focus on improvement of the living standards of the terrorists by fulfilling their basic needs and demands. Implementation of strategic actions might prove effective for the government to reduce the impacts of terrorism over the citizens of a specific nation. If it is possible that any government can come up with strategic political negotiations with the leaders of terrorist groups, then many common people’s lives might be saved and the social, political and economic condition of the nation may also be improved considerably. Therefore, it is essential for any nation to reduce the negative effects of terrorism in order to amplify the growth and prosperity of the nation. The thesis statement of this research paper is, whether military forces may be used as a counter-weapon to fight against terrorism. 2.0 Discussion 2.1 What is terrorism? Terrorism is described as a sort of violence, against the general civilians in order to impose influence and power. Terrorist attacks are caused by a specific group of individual over the citizens of a nation in order to fulfill their own interests and motives. This is done mainly by a specific group of individual of different culture and religion whose prime aim is to improve their life style and living standard as compared to native citizens of the nation. Moreover, terrorist attacks also try to create fear and terror within the minds of the native individual in order to increase the rate of ‘out migration’. This might prove effective for the terrorist individual to get job opportunity with standard wage. Hence, by doing so, the entire peace and democratic scenario of a nation can be maintained. Therefore, for these above mentioned causes, it is worthy for any nation to offer highest concentration over the impacts of this issue and resolve it immediately. Otherwise, it may hamper the entire prosperity of the nation. 2.2 Factors responsible for terrorism There are various factors that acts as a motivator attacking the terrorist to create violence within the countries are presented below: Political and social injustice: It is considered as one of the root cause of terrorism. Such type of situation arises, when the citizens perceive that the perceived right is politically inappropriate or wrong. Then, they try to revolt against that ruling party and desire to dissolve it. For this purpose they come up with violence and attacks and the life of numerous individual are lost and the economic situation of the country also reduces significantly. Ethno-nationalism: In this situation, a specific group of individuals desire to make their own position and influence in the country. Therefore, they try to break the powers and dominance of the ruling party and create a state of their own. In such a situation, political, economic as well as social crisis arises that hinders the prosperity and image of the nation among others. Discrimination: This is also considered as one of the most important causes of terror within the nation. Such a situation arises, when forced migrated group of individual desire to integrate as per the religion and customs of the host country. Then, the native individual of the host country fail to accept them and discrimination takes place. However, such type of discrimination takes the shape of terrorism (Transnationalterrorism.eu, 2008). Religion: Religion also acts as one of the prime cause of terrorism for any nation. When a group of people from a particular religion tries to mingle with another group of religions then such type of conflicts arises. However, at times, such conflicts take the shape of terrorism and increase the rate of violence. Socio-economic status: Terrorist attacks are also for the cause of deprivation or lack of dominance within a specific society. Therefore, such types of attacks need to be immediately resolved in order to preserve the political and social peace within the country. 2.3 Is military activity, a strategy to fight against terrorism? Yes, military activities are considered as one of the prime security forces to counter the terrorist activities within a nation. The military force helps the government to analyze and evaluate the exact causes of terrorism. The government might desire to make negotiation or communication with their leader regarding the issue so as to resolve it. But in case, the terrorist group continues its violent attacks, then military forces make counter attacks. However, such types of attacks may not be countered by the general citizens of a nation. For example: in case of Liberation of Tamil Tigers Eelam (LTTE) attack within the nation of Sri Lanka, the government used military forces in order to attain a separate region for Tamils. This is because; LTTE increased their violent activities that not only destroyed the lives of general public’s but also hindered the operations of many public and private organizations in that region. Moreover, Fear from terrorist activities also decreased the motivation and devotion of the native citizens towards their work and forced them to migrate in different nations. Therefore, in order to reduce such political and social violence, the government of Sri Lanka used military forces rather than any other measures. The activity of military forces proved extremely effective for the nation of Sri Lanka that improved its political scenario and economic condition as well. So, military forces are considered as one of the most important means to stop the actions of terrorism. 2.4 Is intelligence- a solution to terrorism? Yes, intelligence is also considered as one of the important causes to resolve the effects of terrorism, rather than military forces. Intelligence groups help to analyze the exact motive of the terrorist groups and facilitate the government to resolve it. However, it might be resolved with the help of negotiation strategy that may prove extremely effective for a nation in amplifying its economic condition. But this strategy might work effectively only with the help of military forces. As, the terrorist organizations attain financial help and messages from various other regions of the globe in order to maintain their operations. Moreover, the terrorist organization comprise of diverse nodes in order to maintain their operations efficiently and effectively. The exact location may be identified only with the help of military forces and once, they are known, then their next actions and activities might be easily recognized. If the activities of the terrorists might be analyzed initially, then it may prove effective for the nation to resolve it. For example: Al-Qaida group activities might be easily detected and resolved with the help of intelligence agencies and military forces. This strategy acted as a boon for the nation that enhanced the social security of the nation of Sri Lanka. Moreover, implementation of the strategy of intelligence agencies and military forces helped the native individual to maintain their jobs effectively. This enhanced the productivity and profitability of the organizations as well as native individual. This improved the economic condition of the nation of Sri Lanka as compared to many other neighboring nations. It also enhanced the living standards and life style of the individual that amplified the financial condition of the native individual. Hence, it might be stated that negotiation with intelligence agencies might prove effective in reducing the negative impacts of terrorism thereby enhancing their interpersonal relationships. If the interpersonal relationships of the different individual residing within a society or nation are uniform then it might prove effective in improving its image and reputation among others. Therefore, in this recent age most of the countries of the nations desire to offer more attention over military activities supported by intelligence agencies, to reduce the activities of terrorism. 3.0 Analysis 3.1 Is capturing of key leaders by military forces may reduce terrorism? In order to dominate the terrorists of a specific nation, varied types of strategies or policies are used. Among them, one of the most effective and influential strategy is to prison the main leaders of the terrorist groups. But this is not at all possible without the help of armed or military forces. As, capturing the leaders might be possible only by defeating the terrorists through armed weapons and by doing so, severe punishments are provided by the law. But, before presenting the leader in front of the chief justice of the court for punishment, most of the followers need to be arrested by the military forces. Then, it might prove effective for the nation to offer severe punishments to these terrorists members as they are involved in killing of numerous innocent natives of that nation. The above mentioned strategy of capturing the main leader of a terrorist group is considered as an effective one as it helps the government as well as the military forces to know various plans and programs of the group. Such strategy also helps to identify numerous other members associated with that specific terrorist group in different other regions. Hence, the military forces might save the violent attacks or bombarding in future stage in many other regions. This might save the lives of many innocent native individual of that region. For these causes, this strategy is also highly acknowledged by the governments of different regions in the entire globe so as to reduce the negative impacts of terrorism. For example, capturing of Khan Muhammad of Al-Qaida group proved extremely effective for the government of Pakistan to identify various future plans and activities of the group such as attacking of the gold mines of Pakistan. This strategy enhanced the economic and political condition of the nation of Pakistan as compared to many others. So, this strategy is highly appreciated by the governments of numerous nations as it helped in reducing the impacts of terrorism. Hence, it might be clearly depicted that military forces are directly or indirectly responsible in reducing the effects of terrorism. 3.2 Other ways to combat terrorism effects Terrorism is a curse of the society and so in order to reduce its effects, varied types of measures are used. The government may use the strategy of legal approvals such as freezing the bank accounts, interrogation with the members etc. This process might prove effective in reducing numerous activities such as purchase of weapons from other nations, recruiting terrorist members in different posts of the country etc. With the help of these processes, the government and the military forces might attain varied types of information regarding the future plans of the terrorist groups. This might prove effective for the nation to reduce the impacts of terrorism in an efficient way thereby enhancing the economic and social security of the nation as compared to many others (Neumann, 2008). Moreover, by freezing the accounts, the military forces and the government might analyze the places, in which the terrorist group is presenting funds (International Council on Human Rights Policy, 2008). By doing so, the military forces might capture those places, the non-taxed funds and members as well. For these reasons, this strategy is also used by the military forces of the different nations in order to capture the main leaders of the terrorist groups. Hence, it might be depicted that military forces are entirely responsible in order to identify and analyze the plan and programs of the terrorist groups to resolve their plans effectively for future attacks. So, help and support of military forces is considered the most effective contribution to protect the nation from terrorist attacks. 4.0 Findings After analyzing and evaluating the above mentioned points, it might be clearly revealed that military forces is considered most appropriate strategy to reduce the effects of military forces. With the help of military forces, the prime leaders of the terrorist groups might be captured and punished. Once the key leaders are captured, then various information and plans of the terrorist group might be easily analyzed. The process of capturing helps to reduce the number of terrorist individual from a nation that may help to reduce the violent attacks (Hoffman, 2013). In this way, the military forces might save the lives o numerous individual thereby amplifying the political and economic condition of the nation in an efficient way. Moreover, by freezing the financial accounts of the terrorist groups, the military forces might attain a huge amount of non-taxable fund that may be used for the betterment of the scenario of the nation. Support of intelligence agencies and military forces might maintain an effective negotiation with the members of the terrorist groups and may reduce the negative impacts of violence. Such a strategy might also increase the interpersonal relationships among the terrorist group members and the native individual that may amplify the internal and public security of the society. In this way, the terrorist attacks might be reduced in an efficient way that may enhance the political and social security of the nation. Hence, it might be analyzed that military forces act as the best strategy to reduce the negative impacts of terrorism within a society in this recent age as compared to many other policies or measures. 5.0 Conclusion From the above extensive analysis it can be summarized that help of military forces is considered as the most important requirement so as to defend the policies and plans of terrorist groups. So, military forces and terrorist groups are directly related to one-another. The military forces have the highest ability to protect a nation from the negative effects of terrorist groups in an efficient way thereby amplifying the political security. Moreover, with the help of military forces, the main leaders within a terrorist group might be arrested and it may assist in evaluating various plans and programs of these groups in future era. Moreover, interrogation and negotiation among the members of the terrorist groups and the military forces also acts in a positive way in reducing the impacts of terrorism within a nation. It also helps to identify numerous regions and other members associated with that specific terrorist group and help to reduce its activities and actions. Thus, these reasons made the activities of military forces more prominent in reducing the effects of terrorism and enhance the security of the nation in an effective way as compared to many others.
