To reduce your likelihood of your murder The text reads about apprehension about murder. The seems to be talking to the referred woman, while warning her to be careful with herself. As the text envelops, the audience uncovers that this is a young woman of seventeen years old. To begin with, the author warns the teenager to be wary of dates. For instance, she should not go outside with men. Besides, it is worse to go outside alone. In cases of a car, it is not safe for her to drive alone. In addition, the author warns the teenage girl to be wary of both male and female friends. The author also warns the teenage girl to be wary of love. To begin with, it is not safe to love someone too much. It is neither safe to kiss the person one loves. Besides, it is dangerous to declare that one loves someone. The author mentions that everyone is a murderer. In this case, the girl is susceptible to murder. It is crucial for the girl not to venture outside at night. Furthermore, she should inform her mother about her whereabouts and the time she will come home from a night out. More essentially, such a person should not sleep so deeply. In the end, the author warns the girl to protect herself by carrying a knife, pepper spray, mace, and a gun. The author urges the teenage to spontaneous. In the last line, however, the story surprises the readers by saying that the teenage girl will die anyway. It is essential to highlight that this text does not read as a short story. Instead, it reads as an instruction manual that is indispensable for maneuvering a complex life. All the same, the story uses a mild flashback as the author conceals the subject in the second paragraph. Before that, the audience is not aware of the direction of the short story. It, therefore, occurs that the subject is a vulnerable person of whom the society poses danger from all fronts. The text thrives on contradictions. In the first paragraph, the protagonist receives a warning not to venture outside. The audience expects that once the subject receives a warning not to go on dates she may be allowed to go outside for other activities. In addition, the author warns the subject neither to go on dates with men who drive nor drive herself to date (Monson 64). In this case, the subject is torn between these two extremes of advice since she cannot choose. Besides, the author warns the girl to spend time neither with men friends nor with any friend at all. In the end, the girl will lack any friend. The author also tells the girl neither to stay home alone nor to venture out in public. The audience, therefore, wonders about the best place for the girl to stay. In the last paragraphs, the author advises the girl to behave like a detective as she dodges people, change cars, and travel in obscurity. The last line, however, highlights the general contradiction of the whole text by saying that the girl will be killed anyway. This occurs in spite of all the instructions she receives on protecting herself against death. The text informs about the absurdity of life. In this sense, a person does not choose the tricky circumstances under which a person thrives. The text manifests the girl as an innocent person of whom the people around her threaten to destroy. In spite of the fact that she may wish to have fun, the life outside is dangerous. She might try to make the best out of her life by staying with friends, but they too pose a danger to her life. The girl may also try to protect herself by adopting the life of a detective. This is possible by carrying a gun and the tools that shield her against murderers. She may also travel in obscurity and make her covers unknown. This all, however, is vain, as she will die eventually. Life reveals as an absurd fact that the person living merely tries to make the best out of it. Such a person lives with the knowledge that one cannot make life a straight and predictable phenomenon. Monson writes about a society whereby the male poses constant danger to the female. The male takes advantage of three situations to exploit the female ones. To begin with, the male takes advantage of night dates to exploit and lure the woman towards murder. In such scenarios, the woman is vulnerable to the immense physical strength of the man. This is worse in the case of a car that confines the woman in a space that she cannot easily protect herself. In addition, the woman is vulnerable in love from a man. In such a situation, she may trust too much that she fails to notice the dangers lurking in a date. The author warns the girl not to trust her male friends because they are potential murderers. This is worse for the rich boyfriends who possess cars who may employ such traps to lure female friends into murder. In addition, the text reads of the general mistrust that occurs in a society. It is difficult to live without companionships, friendship, and love. This, however, seems to be all the things that the author warns the girl about the same. For instance, the text warns the girl not to trust her female friends. The author highlights that people are killed by the individuals they know intimately. In my personal life, I can mildly relate to such a situation. However, the life in UAE is much different. UAE has a culture that promotes companionship. For instance, in the Dubai’s culture, friendship overrides business relationships. In order to conduct business with a person, one must connect intimately. This happens in my school history whereby friendships last for a very long time. In my culture, friendship thrives on trust. In this situation, a person who betrays another earns vilification from others. In addition, although women have not attained the same socio-economic status as men, it is disrespectful to physically harm a woman.
