Negative effects of making school environment more likeable in Saudi Arabia Recently, there have been many efforts by the ministry of education and the parents to improve the education system in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia being the cornerstone of the gulf region cannot be overlooked on international economics and politics, yet the educational system had been largely ignored there before. It is a reason that has led to the ministry jointly supported by the parents to make changes in the education system to make it more likeable in the effort to boost student’s morale in schools. Learning in more friendly school environments will enable students to be in a more interactive and more open platform for learning. The system will empower student’s partnership with education stakeholders thereby creating a more attractive and friendly learning environment. The significance of education in the national development is a key issue that requires efforts from all zones to ensure achievement of the best results. The pace of national developments in Saudi Arabia requires policy makers and other stakeholders to be more vigilant on issues that may hinder educational goal achievement. It is the reason that parents and the ministry of education felt needed address and the best way is through making education system friendlier to students (Doumato and Marsha 57). A positive move will have a great impact on the education system bearing in mind that students are more sensitive on issues of freedom, process and the education environment. Students are subject to many challenges in the course of learning. These challenges may be a limiting factor in achievement of their goals but with a friendlier school and learning environment, these challenges may be minimal. Most students even drop out of school citing inability to cope with school life a reason that has made the ministry support a friendlier school environment to ensure students appreciate and feel catered in the learning process (Sedgwick 23). The efforts to make school life friendlier have significant benefits but at the same time has many negative effects on student’s education and their adequateness to adapt to the general life. Technology is important and is a key factor in making learning environment more appealing but has negative effects attached to it. The encouragement of student-teacher relationship has many benefits and lays several negative effects too. The use of buses by students to and from school may also have negative effects on student’s life. The negative impacts range from moral corrosion, change of lifestyles, health problems, and laziness among students. Suitable measures need to be in place to ensure that by making student’s life likeable, the long run outcomes do not surpass the educational benefits (Doumato and Marsha 67). Bolstering education system by introduction of E-learning in schools by ministry of education has greatly influenced the learning environments. Through such an incentive, the students’ commitment to their studies has deteriorated because they can access the learning materials from the online sites. This has reduced the student-teachers relationship thus reducing the moral lessons from the teachers. The students having their lessons through the e learning are much more prone to lack of the proper explanations as they lack the presence of their tutors whom they can actively discuss as well as asking question (Sedgwick 42). The idea from the parents and the ministry at large thus does make it easier for the Saudi Arabian students exposed to different challenges in their courses. The technological grievances are at a higher rise as it is the most influential in having the negative impacts upon the student. As the students, have the privileges of having the access to different technological advancements, they are ending up being addicts of the respective gadgets and computers given to them. Addiction is among the disturbing problems among the youths. Fighting addiction is a challenge to many youths thus being a hindrance for effectiveness in their studies. Therefore, this ends up affecting the social life of the students, which in return affects their academic performance. The freedom to search for information on the internet provided by the availability of internet connections in schools may lead to students accessing materials such as pornography and other non-educational materials. This would affect their morals and disrupt their educational motives (Sedgwick 51). The use of buses in accessing schools is positive measures aimed at ensuring students have easy access to schools. This is a motivating factor to many students, as they need not to walk to and from schools. The approach, however, has disadvantages in the students’ development and may lead to health issues and laziness. A common health issue is obesity as students have little time for exercises. Obesity is a point of concern in many schools as with the changing lifestyles have resulted to lack of students’ exposure to activities that can help better their health. They spend more time in computers playing games rather than studying. The education system in Saudi Arabia is result-oriented and little effort exists to check on negative effects of creating smooth learning in schools, the reason that has made some students and teachers to forget on the need to take health as a key factor in educational developments. Students require other co-curricular activities (Sedgwick 55). They are also essential in making school life friendlier, but lack of regulation may lead to students concentrating more on them than they should. This may lead to low levels of education among the students. Encouragement of student-teacher relationship is a major move towards achievement of educational goals. The ministry of education in the curriculum provides for teachers to foster their interaction with students to ensure school and learning environment is conducive for students. Parents also encourages the move as they argue that, in so doing students are easily managed and teachers can easily assist the students and also monitor their behavior closely. These relations may have several effects on students. These include lack of dedication in education for students as in most times, teachers serve them with most of the information of which students fail to research further. This may develop laziness in students resulting to half-baked students in education (Doumato and Marsha 69). In some cases, these teacher-student relationships may get outside the scope of education resulting to teacher-student sex relationships. Such relationships would mean affecting students’ performances and their general being. In conclusion, the support of a friendlier and likeable school environment is a better move by the parents and the ministry of education as it has substantive benefits in Saudi Arabia’s education and motive of economic developments. However, it is evident that there are several negative effects attached to the move that require more attention from all the stakeholders to ensure that the scope of education in students remains upright even with friendly learning environments.
