The featured story is the source of new knowledge for the young readers and the core message of the tale was not to trust strangers as in the story Little Red Riding Hood did and she was very lucky to survive. Another message which was embedded in the story guided kids to fight the evil as Red Riding Hood did with the wolf that attacked them afterwards. The story involved a problem of rats that did not allow the children to sleep at night and therefore, their routine was being disturbed until magical Piper forced all of the rats to move to the river under the influence of his music (Goethe, 1902). The point of the story was again simple and that is why, the children can pick it up nicely and in short time. The story told readers that there are good people all around the world as the Piper in the story but they can become ruthless if their expectations are not met as the expanded version of the story tells about Piper guiding children to the forest from where they never returned. The kids can expect and hope to see their worries and problems to disappear as the issue of rats was solved in the story. Unlike Red Riding Hood, the story of Piper was more depressive and hopeless in nature. The former story promoted defensiveness in children while, the latter one promoted fear and sadness in kids and it also made the readers realize about wickedness of elders that they show at times.
