Yes, the verbs that she uses do mirror the subject which she is writing about. Boxing is one of the most brutal sports, and the author captures this by using verbs such as "murderous," "primitive," and "terrifying." These verbs bring the sport of boxing to life and make the reader feel like they are actually in a ring ready to fight. The verbs that she uses do show that the piece is more complex and academic than most sports writings. For most people boxing is a sport where two people beat the crap out of each other for the sake of it. However, the author builds up a scenario that makes it sound like boxers are animals fighting to the death.
