Full Between Homeschooling and Traditional School Education is an important matter in life especially in this modern world wherein living is basically dependent on one’s educational background and attainment. However, having an education is not all that matters but the quality of education has to be considered as well. In this regard, the school where children enroll in are to be seriously thought about in order to give the best educational experience a person can have for better performances not only in school but in one’s life in general.
With the many issues about what are taught in school, homeschooling arose as a consequence of parents wanting to take control of what their children learn and the activities they indulge in. As a result, there have been debates whether it is a good idea to home-school children or if it would be better to send them to traditional schools. One of the arguments presented against homeschooling is that, there is no guarantee of quality education because not all parents and tutors have the proper training to teach.
Moreover, the lessons that might be presented to the student may not be on the same level of the nationally accepted curriculum such as those taught in school (kidshealth.org). On the other hand, the same argument can also be presented in the traditional school because not all licensed teachers really have the skill of effectively teaching students. In relation to the quality of education given to students, homeschooling prides itself of an intensive program that could be designed for the student depending on the student’s learning speed.
The one to one teaching and learning experience can be a catalyst to quantity learning. In contrast to this matter, traditional schools have set schedules that need to be followed so that the quality of learning is greatly affected (Baker & kidshealth.org). For instance, slow learners are often left behind while fast learners get bored with the lessons that are repeatedly discussed for those who have difficulty following the lesson. Another problem that is said of homeschooling is the absence or limited access to the development of social skills in students.
Home-schools may organize groups for their children in order to compensate for the socialization they miss while learning alone at home, and join group activities such as tours and sports but it is so limited in contrast to the exposures of students in traditional schools. Moreover, the facilities used in homeschooling are far limited than in traditional schools. Gymnasiums, libraries with more books, science laboratories and art studios can be easily accessed by students in traditional schools than by those who are homeschooled.
On the contrary, advocates of homeschooling say that this is not a problem because with the control of homeschooled students have over their schedules, they can actually have more hands on experiences of the demands of future jobs in the real world through hands-on education, visitations in museums, public libraries, businesses and others which would be found more beneficial to the homeschooled students according to their line of interest. To conclude, there are certain advantages and disadvantages of both traditional and homeschooling but the discrepancies can be resolved.
For the traditional schools, there would be some difficulty in resolving problems because there are many people involved. On the other hand, homeschooling can easily make ways to solve the challenges presented. However, since not everyone can really live to the demands of homeschooling or entrust their children to traditional schools, what should matter to parents and teacher is the holistic development of students for them to be able to cope with the challenges of life.Title- Between Homeschooling and Traditional SchoolI.
