If one stays consistently aware of the way they think through things, for instance, this process will help them identify areas where their thinking might be boxed in – this awareness will then allow one to pursue another habit of thinking – flexibility. I think the most important part of the idea of metacognition is that if I consistently strive to develop this habit I will be critical of myself. Not critical in a bad way, but rather critical in the sense that I will constantly be questioning my own bias and other factors that affect the way I think and thus the way that I operate. If I can strive to be highly metacognitive, I believe that I will then be able to be very aware of my other habits of thinking and adjust them as necessary.

Though many habits of thinking are highly important, I believe that metacognition is the most. This is the process that I want to develop during my time at this university.
