A Trip to Miami - Essay Example

The moment I stepped off the plane at Miami International Airport it felt as though I was in some place other than America. The heat was the first thing that I noticed, although this was to be expected since it was the middle of summer. After getting our bags and finding a taxi, we headed to our hotel on Brickell Avenue to check in. The place where we were staying was not the flashiest, but it was not exactly of budget proportions either. After getting settled in, we headed down to the beach.

As I was walking past people, I noticed that there were many individuals of several different cultures. Miami was a melting pot of many cultures, although this could be considered normal since Florida is located so close to the Caribbean. If the road signs had not been in English, then I would have guessed that we were relaxing somewhere on a distant Caribbean island. Looking from afar, the water looked clear as crystal. Once we made our way down to the beachfront, we were amazed at the vast number of people who were on the beach. There was barely room to walk! There was of course the usual female trait of lying out in the sun to get a sun or develop a severe form of melanoma looking at it from another point of view. Likewise, there were the typical beach dudes who were walking up and down the beach checking out all the hot chicks.

After being at the beach for a couple of hours, I began to dehydrate as I realized that I had not put any liquids into me for a while. My brother and I walked further down the beach to discover a huge ice cream stand that seemed to have the whole population of Miami waiting in line to buy one. The line was not that long in reality, but it seemed like it was due to the dehydration that I was experiencing. After getting our ice creams, we walked back down the beach only to discover that our “spot” had been taken. Realizing that the sun was going down and our day dwindling, we headed back to our hotel for some R&R.

While my Miami experience was not as I had predicted from my little knowledge about the city beforehand, I was pleasantly surprised with my time there. My brother and I were able to have some good quality time together, and he promised that he would take me back to Miami someday.
