A classic use of color technique has been significantly and vigorously applied in the dresses worn by the characters in the ad to demarcate between the sexes – male and female – in a distinctive manner. However, the simple but inappropriate words used in the ad are particularly catchy (the hook).
The positioning (layout) of the parents on the sides with their daughter at the center portrays a protective and guidance role bestowed upon parents to the upbringing of their young ones. The relative sizes of the images in the ad are unequal. The parents are relatively taller than their daughter (placed at the center), perhaps to reinforce their positions as the center of admiration and modeling. In the 20th century, governments came to the understanding that it was the responsibility of the community to provide for children with advantages that their own parents were deficient in providing.
In the year 2002, daily average of children found to be victims of child abuse and neglect were found to be around 2,454 in number. Another discovery was made that same year that 532,000 children lived in foster homes. This was due to the fact that could not find comfort in their homes.
The fate of women was that they had to be always dependent on men to support them financially. Accordingly, the education provided to girls was aimed at making them good housewives. The exception was in the case of upper middle class girls who were provided education that made them fit for entering the professions (Dawtrey & Holland, 1995).
The emergence of new media technologies such as the cable, satellite and the Internet has a tremendous impact on the traditional forms of mass media. In a book on Media and Cultural Theory, Freedman wrote that “a combination of technological innovations
