Module Module ID: Part Outline Increase in the number of unwed mothers in the US society and its negative affects on children, adolescents and society at large. Thesis statement: The contemporary US society is undergoing the grave challenge of constant multiplication of unwed mothers, which has drastically affected the socioeconomic situation of the individuals associated with the same problem. On the one side, it is destroying the life of the teenager unwed mothers, and on the other side, the problem appears to be putting the life and future of the young ones into grave jeopardy.
Moreover, scarcity of food, clothing and shelter paves the way towards uncontrolled increase in crime rates and delinquent behavior in its wake. Importance: Destroying the life and honor of adolescent girls Putting undue and unnecessary burden of responsibilities on them at a very young agePaving the way towards moral and financial decline of societyReasons to care:The problem may produce weak, unhealthy, immoral and delinquent generation It may damage the moral values prevailing in societyIt may pollute the entire society by influencing the concept of extra-marital activities upon the fellow beingsUnchecked and uncontrolled expansion of extra marital relationships as well as unwed pregnancies may be startling for the social and moral points of view.
Background/ContextWhen did this start becoming an issue? The problem raised its ugly head in the aftermath of the society’s granting permission of all types of sexual activities with consent of both the parties. The advent of uncontrolled freedom to the members of society by declaring statutes of law and moral values as two separate entitiesThere was a time when the parents and teachers maintained complete and unconditional check on the activities of the young people. Not only this that the boys and girls respected their elders, but also they were not allowed to go out of the house without their prior permission.
Moreover, sex was a strict taboo, which could only be enjoyed by the married couples belonging to the opposite gender groups.Inclusion of civil rights in the name of shameful freedom has ruined the social and moral values of society to a great extent. Granting of permission to the individuals to live with the individual of his/her choice without any discrimination of gender, age, race, ethnicity and socioeconomic status etc projected immorality and debauchery in society. Only few thinkers belonging to the Devlin’s school of thought advocated the imposition and observing of moral laws; while a large majority of so-called enlightened theorists supported the idea of freedom to a horrible scale.
Who and what is impacted?Individual and collective life of the adolescentsSocioeconomic activities of the individuals involved into adolescent pregnancies The life of the parents of unwed teenager mothersThe future of the children of the teenager mothersThe entire social establishment, because of the very possibility of the unwed mothers’ involvement in prostitution and other deviant behaviors on the one hand, and their children’s possible becoming the victim of torture, assaults, sexual abuse and starvation etc.
Boaters, ect.Possible remedies for evading the ProblemProper and adequate education, training and socialization of the boys and girls at home, school, church, playgrounds and other recreational places. Appropriate look after of the children in order to protect them from becoming the victim of any abuse or assaultProviding of a pleasant and affectionate domestic and educational environmentInclusion of moral principles in the syllabusTeaching sex education and precautionary measures at home and schoolIntroduction of check and balance system for the protection of the innocent childrenPossible remedies after the birth of illegitimate children Establishment of day-care centers and socialization camps for feeding, clothing and brought up of the children of teenager unwed mothersEstablishment of rehabilitation centers for the improvement of health and fitness of these mothersSetting up of some skills learning centers in order to enable the unwed mothers to become capable of earning their bread for the future years to comeWhat is the counter argument?
The young girls also become victim of the abuse at the hands of stepfathers, uncles, teachers, neighbors and strangers. It is therefore, the law enforcing agencies must announce strict punishments and penalties on the individuals responsible for deflowering the girls. The punishment in the form of both imprisonment and heavy fines should be imposed on the adulterers in order to protect the innocent children to become the prey to such condemnable assaultsThe moral values should also be introduced in the light of the sacred teachings manifestly elucidated in the Holy Scripture.
Since the Scriptures belonging to all religions lay stress upon morality and ethical values, introducing of moral laws would be imperatively beneficial for the entire society. Who can help? The parents, teachers, pastors and sports coach could be supportive in respect of informing the innocent children about the possible sexual attacks on themThe elders can teach the grave consequences of the children’s indulgence into sexual activities at a young age. The governmental and non-governmental agencies could introduce advertising campaigns and other programs for the sex education and protection of the life and honor of the children.
