HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT COLLEGE FOR YOU A speech by James Webster Ladies and Gentleman, welcome to Dapto High School Firstly I would like to thank the school for inviting me back to my old place of erudition. My subject I have been asked to speak on is b How To Choose The Right College For You”. For most of you this comes a little late, however, you may be able to help you grandchildren. OK, you have nearly finished High School and now you have to decide on a college There are a number of choices you will need to make when deciding what College will suit your circumstances.
Firstly, will it be two years or four years? Most of the talk you hear is for a four year college, however, two year terms are still highly vocational and you will have no were near the debt at your conclusion. It is much quicker and therefore you will be starting your careers much earlier. On the other hand, if you choose four year, then be prepared to make an investment in your future. You will, however, reap the benefits , with a much fuller education and three times the tuition with a much larger range of.
off Campus Tuition. To narrow the list further you will have to look a big versus small colleges. At the larger colleges you will have everything from televised sports to a huge array of degree programs. You will be anonymous in a large student population. Your choices at the library, in accommodation, sports and academic programs are vast and well funded. The smaller college is more personal and your professors will more than likely know you by name. You will have less facilities as far as research is concerned and a much smaller choice in majors.
Your choices for on Campus entertainment will be more limited. Local or Distance ? That’s a choice depending on were your are going to reside and your choice of college and will depend solely on your means and funds for doing the traveling. But is just as important as all of your other choices and has to factored in and lastly you have the Urban College against the Rural .You will find the main Academic differences between Rural and Urban very similar to those from big and small with the Rural Colleges having the same draw backs in choices as that of the smaller colleges and so you main thoughts in choosing will be the Rural lifestyle against the hustle and bustle of the city.
The rural offers grass and trees instead of concrete and the more country pastimes such as fishing and hiking against major sports events and in the country you will experience a more community based atmosphere. So there you have it. A lot of things to consider before you choose, but ultimately you have to make your choices based on what subjects you need for your career path and where they are available. How you, as a person, will fit into the environment you have chosen and how you are going to get there and home every day.
Maybe, and this is just my personal opinion, you need to make your choice of college that you will be most happy before you choose your career path and subjects you want study. A happy student will make a successful student. Thank you for your attention and I hope I have added some enlightenment on this subject for you.
