The Importance of College Selection Process - Admission/Application Essay Example

Times had changed from when any college degree or education was enough to give one an opportunity to a job immediately after graduating. This notion no longer holds true. In the current challenging economy, employers are interested in employees who will add value to their businesses in the shortest time possible.

This ascertains that employers need graduates with good practical skills. Choosing the right college is very important for any student. It is only the right college that can help a student in shaping one’s educational background (OConnell). A good college will guide a student in the right career path. Good colleges arrange for campus interviews from companies hiring graduates as employees or students for various attachment and internship opportunities. A good college has a strict and definite timeline that is required for a student to complete a course or degree program (OConnell).

In considering my expectations for choosing this college, most of my expectations have been met. One of the most obvious expectations was getting lively days, particularly from the self-proclaimed hard-working lecturers. Meeting assignments deadline is not fun but one hard thing that at times makes one nervous. The college environment is beautiful; all studies are located within the city; consist of a small student population, good facilities, and low college expenses (ACT). College life offers various opportunities.

They are many societies and clubs with diverse activities that one can engage in. There are different sports that one can participate in at will. As part of my expectations, I have engaged in surfing, Zumba, salsa dancing, and scuba-diving. Some of these activities were new to me but have proved to be really exciting (Newson)Back at high school, one became friends with desk mates or classmates. Others in the friend list include people who liked and listened to the same music as me. In college, one lives with complete strangers who end up being close friends.

One learns how to make friends quickly. People in the same club, society, and coursemates are likely to be friends with each other. When one is in the final year, one can recognize most people in the college.
