Overcoming the Global Food, Fuel and Water Crisis 0 Background The global food, fuel and water crisis has been a thing of concern for the whole world and majorly for the bigger nations like USA. In USA, there had been a growing crisis of food, fuel and water. The food is becoming scarce in USA as the heat wave in USA, in the recent years affected the crops to a great extent. The heat wave made all the vendors and the suppliers of food to suffer a miserable condition for the supplying of the food and food related products to the public. On the same note, there had been fuel crisis when the country was hit by floods. The fuel crisis grew up to the level that people had to stand for hours in cues to get the fuel. Long lines of vehicles were seen on the fuel sources and there were also some instances of insecurity and lawlessness at some places in USA. The fuel i.e. oil and gas is one of the essential needs of the public of USA and the shortage of the fuel made people restless and agitated. On the other hand, USA had been under the drought and almost half of the country was left with no water. The reason told by the authorities concerned were that in USA there had been hot and dry summer which resulted in the drought in half of the country. Another reason which has been given is the increase in the population and estimates have shown that population of the USA has increased 99% and the use of water has increased up to 127% which has given a blow to the use of water resulting in water shortage in USA (Parry 67). 2.0 Analysis of the Global Food Crisis Food crisis in the country leads to chaos and ultimately the political government has to face the music. The global food crisis has hit almost every country of the world and it has hit the most to USA. USA has been under the pin of the food crisis since last year and the hot summer and dry weathers have not let the crops grow with the same ratio as they had been growing earlier and a decrease in food production is calculate to be 6.5%. The United Nations has warned of the perceived threats which might grow up after the food shortage (Citrin 27). The UN is of the view that the food crisis particularly in USA is of dire importance as the UN funded projects in the developing countries can be halted in response of this crisis. According to Gurgel, UN estimates show that the supplies throughout the world are very tight and the consumption of the food and related products is much more than the storage (34).This situation is fast consuming the stocks of the food and products. In USA, the according to UN the situation has been worsening and had there been no solutions to this crisis this issue can erupt like a menace in the country where people will find difficult to eat (Smith n.pag). 3.0 Analysis of the Global Fuel Crisis According to Hurd , there has been fuel crisis in the world in the recent times and this fuel crisis spread all over the world with in no time. The fuel like petrol and gas are among the most used objects of the economy of the world. In USA, apparently there had not been any fuel crisis but the floods in the country let the country deprive of the oil supplies and people were left on their own in driving their vehicles. Other than that, there had been the history of fuel crisis in USA back in 1970 (48). According to Christensen, the oil crisis at that time was of political nature as the Middle Eastern and the oil producing countries had imposed an embargo on the supply of the fuel to USA due to the policies of USA which were not acceptable to the Middle Eastern countries (34). According to David, the fuel crisis in such a big country can wreak havoc among the nation as majority of the public is direct under the usage of the fuel in USA (n.pag). 4.0 Analysis of the Global Water Crisis According to California Department of Water Resources, water is one of the basic necessities of the population of the world and if there is the chances of the drought, then the world should look into this matter with an open eye. The global water crisis has hit many a times and the agencies like UN and others have played their part. Water covers almost 70% of the surface of the earth but the plight is that only 1% of the water is available to the population of the globe (59). California Department of Water Resources, an organization named EPA has been working in USA who has been making efforts in creating awareness among the American public about the use of water and to minimize the abuse of water. The water shortage is not only the case of USA. Drought conditions have been felt by almost every region of the world and still there are many threats of water shortage that have been lingering on with the prevailing crisis (59). According to Barnett, due to the recent water crisis in USA, there have been instance noted which show that some houses in the USA have been found in drawing water through illegal ways. If the crisis kept on persisting, such instances will surely increase which is not a good sign of progress for a country like USA (38). According to Barnett, the water shortage in USA is not just an environmental quandary but it is the abuse of water by the people. Water-waste is more than the water usage which shows the interest of the public in this regard (9). 5.0 Recommendations The global food, fuel and water crisis is a thing of concern for the whole world but keeping in view the policies of USA, it has been the duty of the policy makers of the country to come up with the solution to such problems. With coming into the government, it will be the duty of the government to tackle all such issues on priority basis. For the food shortage there will be new avenues advent by the government to let not the people of the country suffer in hunger. Food shortage will be lesser as the government will hire new vendors and will make it sure that the previous suppliers keep on meeting the desired goals of the suppliers and the people. Other than that, new technologies will be worked out to enhance the growth of the crops and grains of the country to make the country ultimately self-reliant on food issues. Refined technologies will be utilized and the use of biotechnology would be among the focuses of the government. On the same note, the government will not let the people feel the shortage of fuel. The fuel issues always are of grave concern and the government will keep an open eye on the fuel related issues. The new companies will be hired for the supply of the fuel and its products. Other than that, more refineries and wells of fuel will be started to cope up with the fuel related issues. The fuel concerns grow with the need of the public and the government will make certain plans through which there will be abundance of the storage of the fuel for the country so that if there arises any situation like fuel shortage the government on urgent basis can come up with the solution and make people feel privileged with such an advancement and progress of the government. Water shortage being the global distress needs to be addressed immediately and in America, the government will be focusing on eradicating this menace from the country through strong policies. The government will not let the rivers dry down. The government is committed to excellence and the policies of the government in this regard will prove the performance of the government. The hot and dry weathers, though being the major causes of drought in the country but there are other unnatural sources which become a business in the shortening of the water from the country and the government will look in to those avenues which will work out for the eradication of all the practices other than the natural causes. There have been instances collected which tell that the water is being theft or one can say is being drawn illegally from some river. This is an illegal practice and the government will keep an eye on such infiltrators and will try to minimize and ultimately wipe out the water crisis from the country. The government will also be focusing on those hybrid issues which may help the country in making the weathers humid and let not the rivers dry down. In this way a lot of consumption of the water in the USA will be saved. Similarly the government will try to focus on key areas of drawing of fresh water from the fresh water channels and if there would be need of new projects, the government will provide the public with new waterways for their convenience.
