Re: Why I Want to Pursue Business at USC In order to attain my dream as a strategic business manager, I choose to apply to study business studies as my first option and mathematics as my second at USC. I am good in mathematics and can tackle the challenge posed with ease. My interest and strength in mathematics was distinguished when I was in high school as a peer teacher. I would prefer to become a businessman in future. For this reason, I give it my first priority.

My interest to be a businessman was triggered by my aunt’s ambitions; she studied Biology and wanted to be a leader of an international trading company. Today, her dream has come true. My capability of success as a businessman was reinforced by my summer internship with an international detergent company. I realized that I am motivated in working with people of all kinds. This I realized can be achieved through a business career. Personally, I believe I have an analytical mind and I am an awesome strategist. This was witnessed during my summer internship at an international trading company, which dealt with trading detergents from France. At the company I keenly analyzed the customers buying trends and developed a strategy that would assist the company realize more sales. I realized that offering gifts to our customers would motivate them to come again and buy more goods. However, I had also to study our customer base, and I discovered that most of our customers were female.

Based on the above insights, I came up with Louis Vuitton bags since they are a status symbol that could attract more female customers. This strategy bore fruits as there was a substantial increase in the company’s sales even to other Asian countries such as Taiwan, China, and Japan. I also had the opportunity to meet and interact with people of different cultures. I came to learn that I am considerate, hardworking, self motivated, determined, and ambitious. This qualities, skills, and experiences will enable me to thrive well in your institution that is competitive and encompasses people of different cultures.

This program fits my future professional goals because in future I want to venture into the field of business. Despite the misconception that some people have that business is about making money, personally my motivation of doing business is that I like the idea of doing the business itself; meeting and interacting with people and learning from them. I believe this program will exactly offer me the theoretical knowledge prerequisite in doing business and will also enable me to meet and interact with people of different cultures.

The international issue that is of concern to me is international trade. Despite the conception that the world is becoming a global village, several countries have tended to put protectionist policies to trade to protect their home industries. This has been a great hindrance to globalization of international trade. However, most of the countries that have embraced this approach have failed to succeed in their economic growth strategy. I would like to spread information about the importance of international trade to various countries.

Pursuing this program will equip me with the necessary knowledge about the business world and enable me follow my international issue with an informed mind. I intend to employ all my skills and experiences to World Bachelor in Business (WBB) and its communities. The skills that I have talked about previously such as being analytical will be employed to see how we can better this program. I have also participated in various clubs in the past and now. I have also formed a Badminton club; the driving force behind this was to enable intermingling between domestic and international students.

I chose on badminton because it is an amicable sport that could enable the students to interact in a friendly manner. Given your institution also sources students from various countries, I have the intention of participating in various clubs and give them my ideas. I also intend to form clubs such as the badminton club I formed to enable cross cultural interaction and integration. The most important skill when adapting to changing environments is making acquaintances with people of other cultures as soon as possible.

This, I have learnt from my personal experiences. When I first came to Unites States, I persuaded my mom to let me live with an American despite her preference that I live with a Korean. I decided to do so because I wanted to learn the English language and living with an American could offer me a good chance. When I also came to Worcester Academy, which was my first boarding school in my life, I first approached and made friends with people from other countries. I believe this is the most important skill in adapting to changing environments because it has worked for me and I will employ this skill to fit into your environment.
