Insert of VTC versus Stander Nissan Patrol is an all-terrain four-wheel drive vehicle which is manufactured in Japan by Nissan. The Nissan patrol model is available to buyers in two options; the short-wheel base and the long-wheel base. The short-wheel base Patrol is a three door wagon while the long-wheel base Patrol is a five door wagon and is the most common patrol. The 2010, 2011 and 2012 models of the Nissan Patrol can be classified as luxury cars due to the new features and technology that the models have. This new model comes with two engine options; the 5.6 liter V8 engine with a 5 speed automatic gear transmission; and the 5.6 liter V8 engine with a 7 speed automatic gear transmission. The 7 speed automatic is the newest version of the Nissan Patrol. The car’s weight is between 2695kg and 2795 kg (Drive Arabia 3). The 5 speed automatic patrol engine has a power of 320hp and a torque of 521Nm. The vehicle takes 8.2 seconds to attain a speed of 100km/h from 0km/h. Its top speed is 200km/h. The V8 5-speed automatic engine consumes 15.8 liters of fuel for every 100km. The 7-speed automatic V8 engine has a power of 400hp and a torque of 560Nm. The engine accelerates from 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds and has a top speed of 200km/h. The fuel consumption of the engine is 14.1 liters for every 100km. The Toyota Land Cruiser is an all-terrain four-wheel drive vehicle which is produced by Toyota Motor Company in Japan. The Land cruiser series is long in the Toyota history. The Land cruiser 2012 model is a redesigned 2008 model. The vehicle has a seating capacity of up to nine passengers due to its adjustable sitting configuration. The 2012 model comes in three engine options. There is the 4.0 liter V6 engine, the 4.6 liter V8 engine, and the 5.7 liter V8 engine. The 4.0 liter V6 engine comes with a 5 speed manual or 5 speed automatic transmission option. The 4.0 V6 engine has a power of 271hp and a torque power of 385Nm. The 5-speed manual engine accelerates from 0-100km/h in 9.0 seconds and consumes 12.9 liters of fuel every 100km. The 5-speed auto engine accelerates from0-100km/h in 9.8 seconds and consumes 13.4 liters of fuel every 100km. The 4.0 V6 engine has a top speed of 200km/h. The 4.6 liter V8 engine has a 6-speed automatic gear transmission with a top speed of 200km/h (Drive Arabia 4). The engines power is 304hp and its torque power is 439Nm. The engine has a fuel consumption rate of 13.6 liters every 100km and accelerates from a speed of 0-100km/h in 8.5 seconds. The 5.7 liter V8 engine is the most powerful engine in the series. The engine has a 6-speed automatic gear transmission with a top speed of 220km/h. The engine power is 362hp and the torque power is 530Nm. It takes 7.0 seconds for the engine to accelerate from 0-100km/h.The engine consumes 15.7 liters of fuel every 100km. The average weight of the Toyota Land Cruiser is between 2415-2650 kg. The Toyota Land Cruiser comes in different models including a 4 wheel-drive pick-up. The Land Cruiser 5 door wagon is however the most popular model of the brand. Toyota have enhanced the Land Cruiser’s performance and appearance from 1999 up to date. The engine transmission has been upgraded up 6-speed and the top speed of the vehicle has been increased by an average of 20km/h. The Nissan Patrol has been reputed as an excellent off-road vehicle especially in the Middle East but it has experienced steep competition from the Toyota Land Cruiser which is a favorite amongst many in the Middle East (Drive Arabia 8). The Patrol’s engine has been modified in terms of transmission and top speeds since 1999 and the series has seen the introduction of the 5.7 liter V8 engine. Four wheel drive vehicles are common in the United Arab Emirates due to the terrain there. Tests have proved that the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Nissan Patrol are good performers on and off the road. As discussed above, the engines of these two vehicles have tremendous power and capabilities. This power can be enhanced to even greater performance by turbo charging the engine. A turbo charged engine can be more efficient and powerful because unlike a naturally aspirated engine, the turbo charger will force more air intake and proportionately more fuel in to the combustion chamber.Teenagers in UAE are well informed of this phenomenon because they are exposed to driving from ages as early as 12. They get to learn the ABC’s of an engine from such a tender age. The adventurous nature of the teenage mind makes them to turbo charge their car engine up to 900hp. With this kind of charged engine, the car can accelerate to speeds of 0-100km/h in about 6 seconds or less. For this reason, the teenagers in UAE engage in street racing and drifting games to test the capabilities of these charged engines. A G Standard turbo charger is used to charge the Land Cruiser while a VTC turbo charger is used to charge the Patrol (Khamis). Teenagers will turbo charge their cars to show their prowess in driving through drift racing or by simply “making doughnuts”. This is a term used to refer to the tire markings that are made on the road surface using the rear wheels of the vehicle. The two vehicles are good 4 wheel-drive machines. The options that are availed to a buyer and the technology that has been incorporated in the cars is of high quality. However, I believe that of the two vehicles, the VTC Nissan Patrol is better. When you compare the two cars, the patrol has better handling in comparison to the Land Cruiser. The patrol’s engine is also much more fuel economical in comparison to the Land Cruiser’s engine. The engine choices of the patrol are also a reason for my inclination towards the vehicle. The engine offers an option through the car transmission; that is the 7-speed and 5-speed automatic transmission; and the power and torque of the engine but are of the same capacity. The VTC can gap a 5 meter distance when racing with a stander engine vehicle. This is because the VTC engine has a faster fuel injection system and the transmission system does not lose power upon changing gears. When compared with a 2010 GTR, the VTC still stands out. Though the GTR has a faster take off speed than the VTC, the VTC’s engine power helps it to increase acceleration and attain a higher speed than the GTR on the race track. The VTC outdoes the GTR, a car modified for speed racing, and this is one of the reason why I prefer the VTC (Azzan96) The performance of the Patrol in comparison to the Land Cruiser is in my opinion, very distinct; it would be my first choice 4 wheel-drive vehicle if I were to decide to purchase one. I would however make adjustments to the engine if I were to buy one to improve on efficiency and speed by increasing the fuel combustion rate. I would turbo charge the engine to 900hp plus. The reason for this would be the fact that the car has perfect handling which will ensure stability of the vehicle even with these great power. Secondly, charging the engine to over 900hp will enable it to pick up speeds of between 0-100km/h within a shorter period of time and thus the fuel consumption of the engine can be reduced. My stance with the VTC is also because the car combines luxury, efficiency and speed. The VTC can be used as a race car with the capability of attaining maximum speed both on the road and off, and it does all this without compromising the comfort which it is designed to deliver. Furthermore, the VTC Nissan Patrol has the power capable of toeing an 18-wheeler truck thus its power capabilities are also an attribute as to why my stance is with the VTC. Work Cited Azzan96.
