Task Planning for the Construction of a Tempe in Gilbert, Arizona The Arizona Village Planning committee has its monthly meeting at the town hall located on Greenfield Road and this one focused on the construction of the Gilbert Arizona Temple in Arizona. This one was on the southern corner of the Greenfield road and was held on the 17th of February 2012. The meeting was called by the Temple Village Planning Chairman, Mr. Paul Gilbert to discuss several issues that were affecting members of the village. The meeting’s agenda had issues that ranged from reviewing previous challenges discussed in their former meetings, security, and sanitation among other issues. The town hall had many chairs and tables. It was quite spacious and had the ability to accommodate over 2,000 seated members. The meeting was scheduled to begin at 9 am in the morning and end at four o’clock in the afternoon. There were notifications issued through the local media, which informed members of the village of the meeting prior to its commencement (Paul Gilbert, 8). Among the village committee members who were to be present for the meeting were the vice chairman, the treasurer, secretary, the organizing secretary and the accountant. There were also some invited guests from the town planning council who would be in attendance. However, there were several committee members absent for the meeting but had sent their apologies to the committee. This included some village elders and the second vice chairman of the planning committee. The meeting began on the scheduled time with the singing of the national anthem and was later followed by a word of prayer after about 1,500 of the villagers had taken their seats. This word of prayer was led by the local bishop of the Anglican Church located in the central of Temple, Mr. James Gregory. He was later joined in another round of prayers, which were led by the Catholic Bishop also located in the central of the Temple. The organizing secretary at the Temple Mrs. Jennifer Simpson then greeted the chairman, the guests and villagers in attendance before introducing several groups of entertainers to cheer up the people in attendance. After their performance, the secretary then introduced the officials in attendance and explained the reasons why the other officials were not present. It was after the introductions that the secretary left the floor for the chairman of the committee to address the crowd who were eagerly awaiting the commencement of the meeting. He went over the issues that had been left pending by their committee in their previous meetings and made inquiries for any contributions to the issues. Among the issues that had been left pending were funding of the erection of a modern bridge in the village and the renovation of the village market stands that many used when selling products produced within the community. It was decided that the finances had already been obtained from two donations made from wealthy families that lived in the area (Gilbert). The chairman then called on the organizing secretary to read out the current meeting’s agenda to the people in attendance. The issue that was first to be discussed was the issue of sanitation. It was stated that the conditions people lived in were deteriorating since the sewerage systems were not properly maintained. Mrs. Simpson stated that this had resulted in the pouring of wastes all over the village thus leading to outbreaks of diseases such as cholera, dysentery and typhoid. The diseases affected both adults and children and greatly hampered the performance of many of their duties. It was reported that there were wastes coming from the industries located in the village which were toxic and which would affect plant and animal life within the region. The issue was greatly debated with contributions coming from both the committee members and the villagers. The other issue discussed was the security situation in the village which had also greatly deteriorated. There were concerns raised by several members of the village with many complaints about the rise of gang activities in the area. The village’s chief of security was also present in the meeting and also raised his concerns on the reluctance of his team to act against the vice. The insecurity in the village was greatly affecting the performances of the villager’s daily activities since the gangs were reportedly terrorizing them even during daytime. These were the major issues discussed during the meeting that was held on that day. The village members also participated in the debate concerning the use and collection of levies to enable the committee to accomplish its tasks adequately among other minor issues. Throughout the meeting, several logistical issues were considered include whether or not the participants had what they needed, whether or not the meeting with smoothly, and how secure the meeting was. Regarding the issue of whether the participants had everything they needed, most of the participants had almost everything they needed to be actively involved in the proceedings of the meeting. This included items such as chairs, tables and adequate personal spaces since the hall was not packed to capacity. The people in attendance and those participating in the debate had problems in properly explaining and illustrating their ideas. They lacked pointers to assist them in explaining details of their slides properly. The use of a surround system enabled the members in attendance to follow the proceedings well. There were no disruptions encountered from the outdated mechanical or electrical fittings located in the premises of the meeting. This greatly enabled the meeting to run smoothly since everyone in attendance had the ability of following the proceedings well and without encountering any form of disruptions. The meeting was going on smoothly though there are several improvements that could be made to it. The village planning committee should provide brochures to the villagers in attendance, as they will enable them to keep up with the proceedings of the meeting. Many of the villagers in attendance were unable to actively participate in the meeting’s agenda. This is because most of them seemed unaware of the issues being discussed and were only applauding. They did not however interfere with the proceedings of the meeting as the meeting’s agenda went on as planned. The committee members should also strive to raise funds for renovating the premises since some walls along with the roofs had cracks. These cracks could allow storm water to trickle into the room thus affecting the composure of the seated villagers in case it started raining. The room also had very poor fans and ventilation systems that help in controlling the temperatures. Arizona has quite high temperatures and their usage of fans and room heaters could be vital in times of cold and hot weather. The committee’s installation of the above facilities could greatly improve the comfort of the members in attendance in the future. This will enable the participants to be actively involved in the proceedings of their future meetings (Gilbert). There were two security men in the large meeting room and several other policemen outside. Several gangs have targeted the area in the recent past and this issue has become a major concern for the committee members along with the villagers. The police keep surveillance of the outside areas and are all equipped with automatic weapons in case of an attack. There were also several plain clothed policemen who were on the outside of the room to enhance the areas security. The security helped in ensuring that the meeting was not disrupted and everything went on as previously planned. The meeting went on for a period of three to four hours without breaking. This enabled adequate discussions to be held on various issues in the committee’s agenda. The committee members and with the villagers discussed several issues and found solutions that would be helpful to them. On the issue of their sanitation, the members along with their villagers all decided to contribute towards the rehabilitation of the existing system. They also agreed to seek professional medical assistance to help them in controlling the spread of the diseases that had become a menace to them. They all agreed to contribute funds to help in constructing a new sewerage system since it would help in curbing the issues witnessed in waste disposal. They additionally decided to incorporate some expert advice on the best way to design their sewage systems. On the other hand, the committee members along with the villagers decided to enforce community policies that would help them in improving their security conditions. The villagers proposed the creation of rescue teams that would have speeded up their authority’s response to their security problems. They finally agreed to also work hand in hand with the federal government in order to ensure there is adequate security across their entire nation (Gilbert). Work Cited Gilbert, P.
