Cultural Phenomenon There are thousands of things one can write but I feel the best writing about my love for teaching. This job has become a part ofmy life for several years since my young school days. There can be nothing as exciting as teaching to me. This twenty year old teacher’s life has given me lots of memorable references about thousands of my students. Whenever somebody asks me the question if I were not to be a teacher, I say would only be a teacher by sheer instinct. I call it my instinct because I had started this career much before I was recognized as a tall young boy. Sensibly saying, it was all the inspiration of my teacher that led me through. At these marvelous recollecting moments, I would love to remember my chemistry teacher of grade 8th.in my high school. She would give us a chance to teach our classmates various topics relevant to the syllabus. I still believe that it should be the reason why my name is a notable one among teachers from around my home town. Despite a number of imperfections, my teaching was impressive to most of my classmates. They encouraged me to become what I am now. As I said this career is not by choice, it is true that I was never in a dream of becoming a teacher. Even to the inspiring teachers I always had a “you wish me first” attitude. This nature was sometimes so worse that we played fun on every one of them but my chemistry teacher. I don’t know why it was so exciting to look at her while she demonstrated theories, equations and formulae. Could this not be my best of luck to have some finest talk about my teachers in my younger life? Surely it could be, because each of their classes proved very much precious in my grown up life. But for this case, I must tell you why I chose to remain in this mind building career. It may be the same old saga of somebody’s experience to many of you but I feel greatly enthusiastic to specify my overview of the objectives that with held my mindset to concentrate much on this glorious profession. I can share my experience As in the long way of trails for becoming a teacher, I had learnt that a teacher should essentially have many things to narrate from his experience. It is surely interesting to even a blockhead. I remember an interesting incident from one of my working days. It was a teenage class room with about 47 students listening to my class. Of course the topic was some literature going all the way boring. I found a boy squeaking at a girl and caught him stand up. I had already known that the boy had been after the girl all the way. With a great enthusiasm I asked him what if he was to do to feed the girl if she accepted his proposal to marriage. To the greatest shame to me, the boy retorted with a shrill thud “I will pull the rickshaw Sir” This experience became a reference in my counsel classes later for children of the same age. Whenever I say this, I feel the effect of my satire working on somebody with a resultant embarrassment on their faces. I enjoy the spirit of mutual help During all the years of my work I have been lucky to have people around me with passionate heart to understand and co-operate with condition pertaining to the work. Since my work is not of a great profile under the government stream, I keep changing work place like most people. Different conditions are applied by different management to execute the same syllabi in schools. We are provided with resources but with out a little human interaction, it is going to be tough for any individual to work in a new place. I always remember a few names among those who helped me a lot in times of my need. The motivation we achieve through this spirit to help one another is estimated good or bad by the management with their own ethical values or assessment portals. I really call it humane to help somebody beyond the professional frame works. I really enjoy the fact to know that I am a human being beyond being a teacher by profession. Any how, this feel soothes me heartily with great levels of moral values and enduring sense of security. I get lots to travel and tour Another factor I love about my work is that unlike any other work, it gives me much pleasure. It ensures me tours and travels with my students. I guess it is the real fun when we are with scores of people to explore some forest, mountain or historical spots. Since I am a fun loving person, I love to crack jokes and laugh aloud for which my colleagues and students always support. Many of my co-workers feel the same way as those trips refresh our minds and get us more into active work after each of them. Sometimes a few students get physical unfitness problems or pains and ailments. Our enterprising presence usually activates them again for another days travel. While making a visit to a historic place, beyond speaking about the glories of the great past, I would always like to remind them of the great works and the archaic value of such things in terms of current currency valuation. This way or that, I manage to make those trips with children entertaining to them to the maximum. My co-workers are great A pat at dusk and greet at dawn – that is what I kind of employees like to have at the work place. This soft touchy feel leaves a lot of pleasure to work without tiredness. They guide me on well through my difficult times. Particularly during examination times they offer great help to me. As I am not punctual I should be proud to have such great friends who always help me find a way out of reach of my bosses. My main dependence on them is only due to my inferior time sense. They consider me great because I mesmerize them with my words, probably my only professional asset. I know my job Knowing one’s job is always essential to work better in any field. As a teacher my first preference is to know my job. My class lasts for 50 minutes in each section I go. I know it is not possible to get all my plans work out as per the schedules given by the management. This disparity of expectation happens only in teaching, I think. Here we are facing nearly 50 different mindsets in as much time. Therefore it is inevitable to know what we must not be like in the class room. Going up to the expected levels is not possible every time you take the class. But you can be flexible with children and relax their mood without damaging the ethics. Time schedule is another sword overhead – it leaves us frightened of syllabus, exams, valuation and report submissions. I remember once having been asked by my boss, “How do you know that your students like you very much?” For that I sheepishly answered, “Sir, because nobody sleeps in my class!” He was impressed and I was given a promotional designation, ‘Content Developer’ which I continue to do till date. I am a role player The difficulties in teaching some lessons are inexplicable at times. Teachers adopt different techniques to hype the attentiveness of their students. There are several times we are asked to play roles in the lesson. Frankly speaking, I have never been a good actor myself but I have the distinguished ability to imitate people and thus make lots of fun. I think my students have seen me in different role in different years and grades. We are supposed to be Lenins, Alexanders, Hectors, Achilleses or even Lousiphers. This role play, though being tough to us, benefits both students as well as teachers in easy correlation of the theme. At the bottom line, I would like to remind you that I love this job very much because it has given me a comfortable life. If amount of money I earned from this is the parameter for assessing my worth, I must be one of the poorest professional in the world. Sincerely saying, I am rich not by money’s count but by the enormous pleasure I have had during all these years of my work. I would also like to acknowledge that this is the most valiant work one can do because during this work alone that you can feel the power of controlling lives. As this profession takes me to mostly all essential pleasure zones one would love, it is surely my choice of a life time. Read More
