One of the risk groups was identified as employees in worksites. Behavioral and environmental influences play the largest role in contributing to obesity and are the greatest areas for efforts to preventing the disease. A number of severe consequences of obesity such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure as well as type 2 diabetes, to mention but a few magnify the importance of targeting the health threat.

Worksite wellness provides an avenue of dealing with obesity. Statistics in the article indicated that over 131 million individuals made the U.S workforce. A third of waking hours was spent by the working population at work. The worksites were found to be key venues for the implementation of obesity prevention and related health programming due to the encouraging social environment and supporting infrastructure. Based on worksite wellness programs, savings can be generated for employers. What is more and equally rewarding, the worksites are capable of influencing an employee’s quality of life.

The success of worksite programs is dependent on a number of factors such as planning, implementation and evaluation of the worksite wellness program. All the aforementioned factors require time and energy to accomplish. The application of a CBPR was noted as pertinent in enabling the programs to be individualized to the needs of each population. Analysis of the Article The article relates to the promoting of health education among the public. The article, for instance, aims at the presentation of ten practical steps in the implementation of a worksite health promotion program by giving specific examples for the prevention of obesity.

With the said lessons, individuals can learn and apply the acquired knowledge in combating obesity. In addition, the article also highlights a number of significant lessons in relation to obesity prevention programs relevant in worksite programs. Such lessons are related to the promotion of health education among the public and are pertinent in the fight against obesity. Lastly, the benefits of the worksite health programs are highlighted in the article. With the benefits, the public is enlightened on obesity and the benefits of engaging in a worksite wellness programs.

Critique The article supports a best practice approach to the general health education. I would say that it reflects the above mentioned based on its documented. The author not only provides the challenge, she takes an extra step of providing statistical data. The worksite wellness program is reviewed by the author who further provides lessons learnt from the same. An implementation plan is also documented in the article which educates a reader by providing insights on how one can successfully implement the program.

In general, the article is well written and is informative to a reader. A reader would observe that the article employs the best practice approach to addressing the issue of providing general health education.
