Research involves scientific exploration of data for development of new knowledge base that may aim at bridging identified knowledge gap, developing theory, or verifying an existing theory. Research can be qualitative or quantitative and this paper defines the two types and…

dentifies a subjective approach and applies strategies such as “case studies, personal experience, life story, interview, and observation” among other techniques (Neergaard and Ulhoi, 2007, p. 5). Quantitative research however defines a scientific approach to measurement and evaluation of relationships between variables. It involves a systematic and predetermined approach that develops hypothesis from background information on a topic of interest, collects data, and analyses data for evaluating the set hypothesis (Nykiel, 2007).
Quantitative research is more valid than qualitative research and difference in characteristics of the two research methods support this. Level of objectivity of quantitative research than qualitative research methods establish higher-level validity on quantitative research than on qualitative research because qualitative research is subjective and therefore susceptible to bias from researchers and research participants. This is contrary to the scope of quantitative research whose data and data analysis methods are, significantly, independent of researchers and research participants’ influence. Quantitative research designs, such as experimental and quasi-experimental designs, also ensure accuracy of collected data towards validity. The deductive approach of quantitative research as compared to qualitative research’s inductive approach also supports higher-level validity in quantitative research (Hays and Singh,

The author states that qualitative and quantitative methods’ versatility can be analysed from the fact that “in recent years specialisations such as medical anthropology and medical sociology have relied on qualitative methods to explore issues relating to health, from the micro-context of the hospital ward to the broader socio cultural context”.
The author describes Quantitative Research as ‘the method which investigates the why and how of decision making, not just what, where and when’. It was noted that qualitative research presents data in language form which is gathered from the study area. In qualitative research, it is thought that the researcher can learn the most by participating.
Need for unique education, on the other hand, is also turning out to be an exceptional factor in the development of exceptional students (Nelson, 1999). This paper will compare and contrast two surveys regarding education focusing on adult education and special educational needs to exceptional students.
In this methodology, a hypothesis is arrived at and research is conducted to prove or disprove the theory put forth. The main draw back in using the quantitative approach in the research is the inflexibility of the methodology itself. Although it does have a long standing tradition, the quantitative research perspective will not allow me the depth required in seeking out answers to emerging questions in this newly, uncharted area".
Moreover, research studies in the human science fields; such as health and social sciences, not only refine and add to what is already known in theory and practice, it also empowers the professional to capably foresee and manage the complex and constantly changing challenges facing these professions, considering the changing conditions of the human beings (Laws and Marcus, 2003).
etc. The focal point of this research is based the socially-developed nature of reality thus the researchers come-up with a situation-confined “Statement of Problem”. Researchers seek in-depth answers to “How” and not “What”. Therefore, a qualitative
One of the outstanding differences between qualitative and quantitative research is the fact that it adopts an exploratory nature in a bid to help researchers construct theoretical propositions, while these propositions are tested using quantitative research. Qualitative research is significant in the initial phase of research.
Qualitative and quantitative researches are two different approaches that deal with each aspect of the concerned study in a different perspective. The methods and techniques adopted for each category is also different and this term paper discusses both the researches in details and their link to digital information. The interpretation of the results collected also varies according to the researcher due to diversity and complexity of views.
