Wind energy is cheap, proficient, and pollution free (Natural Resources Defense Council, 2013). Wind energy is made from big windmills that are placed on hills to supply power to the households. The downside of windmills is that they kill millions of birds in a year (Fear, 2011). The other alternative is solar energy. Solar energy is used to power houses, cars, satellites, and buildings. The suns energy is captured and harnessed to provide heat for electricity. Solar power is free to harness. However, it is costly to buy and install panels (Llorens, 2011).
Another source of energy is biomass and cellulosic ethanol. This energy is from crops remain, and fast growing trees. The uses of the products influence the environment. However, biomass that uses trees harms the environment. The other source of energy is hydropower. This uses water to spin turbines to make electricity. Although is cheap to make electricity, it is harmful to plants, fish, and other wildlife in and near rivers (Natural Resources Defense Council, ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

Burning of Fossil Fuels
... The burning of fossil fuels The Barrack Obama government has laid down strict limits on the emissions of CO2 by the coal power plants. It has asked the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to block the construction of new power plants who do not comply with the new Clean Air Permit regulations. Before building a new power plant, a utility company must gain permission and procure the required permits for construction from the EPA. At this time, the policy of the EPA is to limit construction of power plants to clean burning natural gas systems (to reduce emissions of CO2). This act has been faced by many criticisms but at the same time the environmentalists have deemed it necessary for reducing global...

...already reached its oil production and extraction peak and within no time, coal and natural gas may follow suit (, 2008). Additionally, fossil fuels produce Carbon Dioxide, which has greatly contributed to the ‘global warming effect’. Consequently, population growth, climate change and the depletion of fossil fuel trigger the need for replacing fossil fuels with alternative renewable and climate-friendly energy sources. Alternative energy therefore points to sources of energy that do not exhibit undesired consequences. They are...

Renewable versus Non Renewable Sources of Energy both conserve our present resources of fuel and other natural resources as well as make as small a carbon footprint as possible. This is the only way that we can ensure that the present resources last for our next generation and beyond. Renewable versus Non Renewable Sources of EnergyEnergy can be classified into two types- renewable and non renewable. Renewable energy includes the natural resources that are in abundant supply like the sun, the oceans and the wind from which we can get solar, water and wind power. Non renewable sources of...

Alternative Energy vs. Fossil Fuels
...Alternative Energy vs. Fossil Fuels Abstract One of the major challenges facing modern day organizations would be the best possible ways for obtaining energy to support operations including production, heating and lighting and delivery of products, both goods and services. The global energy demand has been noted to be increasingly high while the energy deposits of fossil fuels continue to be fast depleted. It is for this reason that the world is shifting to alternative energy sources said to be renewable and largely environmentally friendly. This paper analyses...

Whether we should depend on renewable energy instead of fossil fuels
...With the beginning of industrialization, people started looking for fuel to generate energy and meet the growing needs of the huge population of the planet. At first, people used wood as well as whale oil which were then partially or fully replaced by fossil fuels, such as petroleum, coal, and natural gas. These day, the latter three are also widely used and are, in fact, the main sources of energy used by the humanity. However, at the beginning of the twenty-first century, people started to recognize the fact that fossil fuels will not be able to meet the needs of the entire population of the Earth and began working on...

Fossil Fuels the past and adopt other solutions to energy crisis that are harmful and hazardous to our natural environment and human health. For example, solar, hydroelectric power and wind power. These sources of energy use less energy and they have zero carbon dioxide emission (Curley, 2012). Consequently, this will help remarkably in solving the adverse climate changes globally. Fossil fuels powered the past. The government should oppose the exports of the coal and encourage the energy policies that will change the economies of states as well as sustain the future generation with reliable and risk free power sources. The recent technologies...

...sources of energy, we will not only end up severely polluting our environment but will also end up with no more fossil fuel reserves left. Fossil fuels are non-renewable resources and the geological processes that resulted in their creation took millions of years, meaning that if we run out of them, we will need millions of years to get them back, that too if the environmental conditions are right (Shepherd, 2002). Part 2 While fossil fuels are being depleted, there is a need to develop alternative sources of energy. Alternative sources of energy such as nuclear power,...
