Like men make no effort to prevent war and genocide, people need to increase public understanding (Cooper 2009). It is primarily because of men’s effort that war deaths declined so dramatically in the second half of the last century. Similarly, in her book The Girl with the Brown Crayon Vivian Paley represents black child, five year aged Reeny, and has the last say on what is good. In this light, there are important lessons that we discover from Paley’s pedagogy of equality when the reality that children along with teacher do not look alike introduces an obstacle to effectual instruction or an opportunity for teacher development. Paley clearly admires and teaches from Lillian Tully, an African American teacher, whose childhood stories in the segregated South form the core of her pedagogical approach. Any examination of Vivian Paley’s pedagogy of equality must give a well-known responsibility to her compositions as either a black children or white teacher, reflecting the time Paley spent. In fact, in the course of their preparation time, they thought that nobody will be concerned with hearing what they had prepared, but they were amazed to hear people singing part of their songs in holding hands and acting as the motivator for their freedoms (Cooper 2009). What individuals could hear, within this context, were the songs as they exist on the lips of the folk singers. Even as, Frederic Chopin promoted classical, romantic, and contemporary music as an ever-evolving genre, the entertainers insisted at the same time on the goal of authenticity. In performance style that meant the painstaking mastery of the skills displayed by the little-known geniuses on his library of congress recordings, but it also implied a level of commitment, an emotional investment. In my opinion, Frederic Chopin performing these pieces saw music as a living organism both dynamic and diverse. Furthermore, music stretched from work songs and spirituals to protest commercial hillbilly and race recordings. The entertainers, with regard to the subject matter, believed in recording music that transformed access to dependable songs. At a quick glance, it appears that the Enlightenment, with its emphasis on rationalism, and Romanticism, with its stress on emotions, is completely exposed (Cooper 2009). This contrast oversimplifies what a much more complex relationship requires. The Enlightenment did not totally abandon emotion, nor did the Romantic era reject rationalism. One of the key messages of Frederic Chopin’s art in the later years is that, in the right status quo, the producer and purchasers of a widespread culture engaged in the most energetic and controversial manner, in the making of discrimination, and judgments. To fail to do so is to condescend to the genre, the performer, the audience, and the era. Far long, the fading memories of Frederic Chopin’s songs were now the generational representative that was always signified by his loud acoustic guitar and appealing harmonica. This became like the symbol of peace being promoted by the determination and honesty. In his view, with regard to the music he did, what made a difference the most was the history of a popular culture, in the end. It is not merely how many people buy a product but what that product stands for to them, the role it participates in people’s lives, it’s shaping power over their imaginations (Cooper 2009). Popular culture is not an undifferentiated mass. Both aesthetic and political engagement with it demands that people make discrimination and judgments. Furthermore, written five years after Paley retired from classroom teaching. Its central focus is not race but story telling. As a student, reader and writer in this course, I have understood that when writers write essays or stories, they should engage in the same kind of language play they use when they write about poetry and narratives. While essays tend to be a more suit-and-tie style writing, than what is typically referred to as creative writing. In addition, as essay students, students were provided with models that demonstrate and distinguish between different formats of essays. Honestly, I too, benefited from the models when I write especially if I’m writing for a new magazine or writing, I am able to use the most appropriate format. If the essay has embedded or block quotes, I notice how a writer slipped the quotes in. What’s more, guidelines for punctuation are also provided. How has this course been of help to me? As a writer, I am now able to write about stories and articles that relate easily with my target audience. This makes it possible for them to elicit the required type of response. In this regard, there exist a strong emotional connection between a writer and the reader. I am now able to communicate more of what I want my readers to feel. In addition, I am able to make a decisive decision as regards reads of different types of the target audience (Cooper 2009). Within this context, when writing reads for school going children, I use simple and easy to understand English as opposed to writing reads for adults. There is also the aspect of gender balance so that none of the sexes feels misplaced or left out. Conclusion In light of the above, both authors seem to be communicating equality and fairness regardless of the race or gender.
