To fulfill my goal of becoming a professional chef, entering through on-the-job training in restaurant or hotels or taking classes and building a career in family and consumer science is essential (Ferguson, 34). I have over 500 community service hours accumulated from doing services for Scouting for Food, Sundance Suites for the Elderly, Highlands Assistant Living Home, and Polk County School Board’s Environmental Services, Polk County School Board Wellness Program, Blue Cross Blue Shield Medical Program, SPCA, Teen Pregnancy Center, and various other Boy Scout Community services projects.

In addition, I also have experience being an assistant cook in the Especially 4 U Restaurant and Catering. As you can see, I have enhanced my cooking skills through these on-the-job training but I believe that only after establishing a career in the family and consumer sciences would completely fulfill my career goal and make me not only a competent but a top chef around the world. My love for my mother and the determination and willingness to work drive me for a career endeavor in family and consumer sciences.

I know that the best job opportunities are available to those who graduate from special cooking schools and culinary institute; thus, I have developed and stayed true to my core values in order to build a strong foundation of knowledge and skills in family and consumer sciences.
