Learning Years at Stockton For as long as I can remember, I have been in love with the idea of teaching and learning, and of course with communication, the exchange of knowledge. And from my childhood and adolescence in a small town in Bulgaria, when I became proficient in various softwares primarily through self-teaching, to my learning years in this country particularly here at Stockton, I have been fascinated by technology and the positive difference it can make in our lives. I now cherish a dream. My dream is to be part of a work environment where I can apply technology to the field of learning. In my past ....(three?)... years at Stockton, I have learned and been able to analyze from the perspective of technologies such as Information Technology and Mediated Com:Computers…, which have fueled my interest in the field of technological research and application. Technology is everywhere: in medicine, environment, industry, government, the global market. I find that instructional technologists are increasingly being trusted to come up with accurate data and practical solutions for everyday problems, opening up hundreds of possibilities. Possibilities not only for being gainfully employed, but more importantly, for the challenges of being able to chart unknown territories, and uncover hidden potential. I have been pursuing BA in Communications through Stockton itself, an institute I found to be at once warm and welcoming, as well as knowledgeable and helpful in my quest for educational and professional accomplishment. I would like to continue my association here if given the opportunity to join the MAIT program, which is streamlined to my academic aspirations towards technological research and training methods. I am confident that the curriculum would also gear me up for the real world, and directly aid my professional goals in the field of instructional technology. I am aware that the program has a strong basis in theory, and encourages the students to apply the theories in actual challenges in corporate or educational situations. I hope to bring what I have already learned during my graduating years in the Communications course with special concentration on Information Technology to bear on my study for the MA in Instructional Technology, if given the opportunity. Through my stay in Stockton, I have learned not only from my classroom experiences but also been fortunate enough to gain valuable life lessons during my stint as a student assistant, where I have found that I thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment. It has also given me the opportunity to pick up strong administrative, interpersonal and organizational skills which I feel would help me become an effective member of the wonderful learning community we have at Stockton. I am now fluent in a wide spectrum of commercial and office software applications including but not limited to MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and have often demonstrated the ability to learn any other applications quickly and thoroughly. I am presently appointed at the Stockton President's office, where I work closely with the President and his assistants. Along with my application for the MAIT, I am also applying for graduate assistantship in order to be able to carry on adding work experience while facilitating my studies. In conclusion I can only say that being part of the Stockton way of life for the past ......years has been an incredible experience, and I would like to continue my education here through the MAIT program. If chosen, I intend to make sure that I contribute more than ever before to this institution. I can think of no better way to build on my professional and academic experience than pursuing the program’s demanding and innovative course of studies in Instructional Technology. Letter of interest to the Program Director I am writing to apply for Graduate Assistantship to support an MA in Instructional Technology should I be selected in the MAIT prgram. I am presently appointed at the Stockton President's office, where I work closely with the President and his assistants. I have been pursuing BA in Communications through Stockton itself, an institute I found to be at once warm and welcoming as well as knowledgeable and helpful in my quest for educational and professional accomplishment. I would like to continue my association here if given the opportunity to join the MAIT program and continue to contribute to the college in the capacity of a Graduate Assistant. Through my stay in Stockton, I have learned not only from my classroom experiences but also been fortunate enough to gain valuable life lessons during my stint as student assistant, where I have found that I thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment. It has also given me the opportunity to pick up strong administrative, interpersonal and organizational skills. I have served as a liaison between faculty members and the President’s Office, remained active in maintaining files and correspondence and been trusted to carry out other office activities. I am now fluent in a wide spectrum of commercial and office software applications including but not limited to MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and have often demonstrated the ability to learn any other applications quickly and thoroughly. Besides my activities as a student assistant at Stockton, I have also worked as a Marketing Promotions Representative at two different offices in the hotel industry, as well as helped out as a student assistant in the Teachers Education Department at the Henderson State University during my studies there. I have also volunteered for service-learning experience, and functioned as the Assistant Editor of Henderson State University’s International Students Newsletter. All of this work experience has given me the confidence to be an effective assistant if called upon to help with any research program or project, or perform any tasks that might be of use to gather or analyze any relevant data. I am able to carry out the day-to-day tasks with the professional attitude required for the smooth running of a workplace. I can efficiently maintain records and correspondence, and appropriately receive and direct incoming telephone calls. I am aware that the Graduate Assistantship program is a great learning opportunity to collaborate with gifted faculty members and gain experience in a real-life working environment and there is a possibility for graduate assistants to be assigned to units that complement the branches of  academic study they are currently pursuing. Since I hail from outside the United States, and have supported my own way throughout my higher education, a Graduate assistantship would go a long way towards facilitating my studies, while letting me contribute in the best way possible towards the wonderful learning community at Stockton. I am very excited at the possibility of bringing my skills to work for you. I look forward to the experience of serving as a Graduate assistant if given the opportunity, and expect to learn a lot in the process. I thank you for your time and consideration and look forward to hearing from you. Read More
