System integration is one of the greatest concepts in modern society permeating all forms of organizational structures and business enterprises. It is a concept that has been greatly catapulted into the market by the fast and extensive advancement that has been seen in the technological world over the past century. Inasmuch as the concept dates back to the early 1960s when it was incepted into the market, the advancements that have been done on it in the fall of the past decade greatly overshadow and progress that was made during its initial inception into the market so much so that it is almost impossible to relate System Integration of the current decade with that which was in existence two decades ago (Beynon-Davies, 2009).

Be that as it may, System Integration can be defined as a concept that is widely used in engineering where it means the process of linking different computer systems together to coherently work with different software applications either functionally or physically (Beynon-Davies, 2009). It is a complex process that requires astute technological prowess as it involves bringing together discrete systems using different techniques such as Enterprise Application Systems, Computer Networking, Business Process Management, and manual programming among others (Blanchard & Fabrycky, 2006).

The growing trends in the economic world have propelled developers to steer their business into the virtual market since this has been thought to be most appropriate for a technological time of our nature where the world, in one economist's words (Cummings, 2006) ‘a global village’. This has been due to the coming of internet connectivity that interlinks corporations, data, organizations, and entire systems into one massive database from which information is shared mutually and freely in a manner that is beneficial to parties involved, economically or otherwise (Blanchard & Fabrycky, 2006).

Owing to this, there has been the emergence of web-based system integration which is very vital in this internet age.
