and Section # of Business Writing Purpose of Charts Using One Kind of Chart in the Management Meeting Charts are used in different businesses to present the data in a pictorial form. It helps the management and decision makers to understand business activities .it is used throughout the organization almost by all categories of management. Charts help management to interpret and analyze the data more affectively. Very complex data which is drawn from the business or industry is shown very clearly and easily with the help of charts. Like what was the sale at a particular point, what were the trends, choice of the customers, and much such analysis which are needed by the decision makers at the time of designing and implementing the strategic plans can be shown by the different charts. There are many kinds of charts like line graphs, bar charts, pie charts and Venn diagram. Selection of any particular type of chart depends upon the nature of data to be represented. Let’s suppose our company is a tea and coffee producer. The management has organized a meeting to discuss the current demand of tea and coffee. For this it will use a pie diagram showing four proportions. One shows proportion of coffee lovers, other for tea lovers third for the people who like both tea and coffee and the last one for the people who do not like either tea or coffee. Above chart will help management to formulate and implement policies .moreover colorful representation of the data will also help the decision makers to understand the situation of market very easily. Components of a Progress Report and a Short Memo Progress report is a report by any officer of the organization showing his progress about any project assigned to him or about his job. It is written to keep all the parties who have interest in the work of employee up-to-date. This may include the board of directors, share holders, management, supplier or others. More often it is directed to the immediate boss. Style of progress report should be formal and it should describe all the factors whether positive or negative. Likewise if the progress is not up to the mark, the progress report should include the reasons for that. The standard components of a progress report include the heading, purpose statement, brief background, work completed, work scheduled and problems during the performance of the task. Since the main objective of this project was to research the effects of using mobile phones. We had to conduct this research interviewing the mobile phone users, some doctors, some mobile phone operators and some telecom engineers as well. We have selected a team of people who will conduct such interviews very soon. Furthermore, they have taken appointments from the interviewees. As soon as they submit their report a team of experts will analyze it and a detailed research paper will be submitted to your office. However, our project is on schedule and no obvious problem is seen in accomplishing our task on time. If you have any further queries, I would be glad to answer them. Difference between a business plan and a proposal Business plan and a business proposal are two very important documents used by the organizations. Business plan means any plan for the future business. For example an organization wants to start its business of export and import; it will make a feasibility report for that. Like how much of capital is required and what would be the returns, How the capital will be arranged and many such details. However, it is not necessary that business plan is made at the time of starting business only. It is like an allocation of resources, focus on key points, and get ready for problems and opportunities which may be done during existing business as well. On the other hand, business proposal is an offer for the provision of services to the clients. This offer may be for existing as well as new customers. Business proposal contains detailed information about the business offer. This includes the potential opportunities and expected gains from the proposed business transactions. Need of an entrepreneur to write a business plan An entrepreneur needs business plan because it is predicted future of his business. Simply it is an idea that what an entrepreneur wants from his business and how he will achieve that. It helps entrepreneurs to move in right direction and set strategies according to their targets. For a successful business, a plan is necessary. It is generally said, one who made a plan took first step towards achievement of his goals. Same is the case with entrepreneurs; those who made a good plan took first step towards a successful business. Visual clichés, why they should be avoided? Visual clichés are description of some information in a visual form. This is mostly through in the form of some cartoon. Likewise we see most of the newspaper present one important issue of the day in the form of cartoon, that presentation is visual cliché. Moreover, stories we read in the cartoon form are a form of visual cliché. In visual cliché a picture is drawn and a brief description of action is written in the words. Most of the authors term visual clichés as image making. It is also used in business to present the current information in the most interesting and understandable way. It is used by all kind of organizations whether public or private. It is generally believed that visual cliché is not a useful tool because it emphasize only on one side of the picture. It ignores many other factors responsible for that. More over by visual cliché one cannot tell everything. By it one only tells about one situation. Like if there is a problem of law and order situation in the city, one visual cliché will describe the bad law and order situation. It would not describe why it is so or what should be the remedial measure. Similarly from a business point of view if there is a decrease in the sales of the company one visual cliché will only describe lesser sales, it would not show the reasons or remedies. Therefore it is not used frequently by the organization. It is used only to describe the main point. Why is it important to proofread your résumé and steps one should take to improve one’s résumé? Everyone has many dreams for his life. One of the most important dreams one have is to have a good job. One starts his studies since his childhood then go to school, college and finally in university to have a good degree. After getting a degree one thinks of a job and the first step he takes is to make his resume. When someone is searching for a job it means he wants to sell himself in the market. Now he has to impress the employers of his abilities. One can do this only by making a good resume. It is very important that a resume should be free from all kind of errors. One should make it confirm that his resume is complete and does not miss any important information. Everyone has a resume but very few people realize the importance of it. By editing one’s resume according to the needs of the employer increases the chance of getting the job. It is therefore generally believed that one should not send his resume blindly and must proofread it before forwarding it to the employer. He must make it sure that his resume does not miss any important information and has been edited according to the job requirements. This increases his chances of getting an interview call. There are several steps for improving one’s resume. Those are discussed below 1. One should define those points very clearly that makes him the most suitable candidate for the job. 2. Format of the resume should be standard. 3. Important points should be placed first. 4. Headings should be effective and impressive. 5.
