Organizational Management (Assignment No Business Strategy for Trend Micro Introduction Effectiveness of every management depends on the feasibility of an organizational structure. This belief can be proven true only with the application of formulated plans based on a solid design of organizational chart. The chart so designed must be functionally balancing all aspects of its business coverage. This trans-continental business set up must be facilitated with a large organizational frame work whereby all activities are designed, guided and monitored by a responsible structure of management line. Organizational Chart The primary step of framing the elaborate design is to make a list of operational departments with a view to centralize the activities after prospective delegation of responsibilities to each of them. As Adams (1996) states, expansion of business is possible with the introduction of a strong Research and development department (p.31). This international business should have a general manager for the extended operation of new plans at the head to decide the action plans. He must be on the helm of affairs of various departments of the organization. The chart below shows the departments I would source my team from.   The following part of the paper will explain why I would rely on the above said departments for my new strategies. 1. General Manager Functional management of the company demands the employment of a general manager at the top of affairs related to all of its business promotion activities. Under his guidance, timely decisions are taken and they are executed with the help of supporting management mechanism for the best result of the organizational growth. He designs a pattern of administrative chain stretching from CEO to ground staff and establishes an effective communication line in the organization. Based on the assumptions and evaluation of reports from various departments, he designates headquarters and model organizations at different locations for the easy management of the large groups. At the final stage, he is responsible for presenting the consolidated data of all operational affairs of the management to the CEO on a regular basis. 2. Research and development department Basic need for a research and development department arises with the plans for expansion of business in new regions. Quality of research data influences operational result in all spheres of the business. The research department should focus on areas of requirement of the product and present the feed back to the development team for their easier work. While considering the importance of the research department, it is noticeable that it needs to enter regions of unexplored business magnitudes with the help of technical advancement. Expected annual turn over, possible fluctuations in market trends along with changes in technology etc are to be clearly studied and a report should be submitted to the development team. Trend Micro’s software business is totally dependent on the identification of product specification and updated formats. The development wing must be aided enough to substantiate product specifications according to change in trend and time. There it should make a timeline for every product on the identifications of its expiry and version manifestation. Research wing of the department should be loaded with estimated data of product mobility based on time zones and general trend of the users. 3. Human Resources Management An international spectrum of management of labor is to be maintained and managed well with the involvement of an effective Human Resources Management wing in the organization. The Human Resources manager should work as a bridge between employee behavior and organizational objectives. According to Pringle & Starr (2006, p.63) an HR manager’s areas of work cover performance appraisal, dispute management, negotiations and all the process related to an employee right from his recruitment to retirement. The organized business of Trend Micro is estimated to spread over different regions in the world. Continental diversities in culture affect the motivational levels in general when employees are put together to work under the same unit. Trend Micro also looks for a versatile HR manager with up to date knowledge in all international labor laws. He must obtain the list of labor and infrastructure requirement and inform the CEO timely. He should also be enabled to create larger employment opportunities in lesser developed countries by hiring the employment or setting up new work stations in target areas. 4. Marketing Management A critical share of business promotion activities is largely handled by the marketing department. Having an efficient manger on its head, the marketing department can distribute the marketing process to different levels of personnel in the wing. Market research, product demand, sales cycle, promotional magnitude, advertisement, supply, continuous market evaluation etc are some of the important assignments expected from the marketing manager. He must be timely informed of the changing trend of technologies and request the development department for update of the required software. Marketing management is responsible for the growth of business out side the unit; therefore, it should cater the demands of effective business cycle with stronger supporting mechanisms to work for the promotion of the product. 5. Operations Manager Trend Micro suggests its Operations Manager being responsible for fund management and overall supervision of expendable areas of business requirements. This department meets the demands of advertisement, transport, recreation, medical and educational benefits and incentives while staying as a subsidiary unit of operation to all other departments. The company requires detailed information of all transactions taken place for meeting infrastructural needs of the business. This department should work more or less like the Finance Department through which every financial entry is made in the business. Trend Micro also requires its OM to travel intensively and arrange promotional events at different part of the company’s business areas. Operation Manager is expected to expand the business areas with his repeated interactions with target customers. Cultural differences may stand as barrier at times as the same product may be seen with dissimilarity. More accurately, cultural aspects work in a business with relate to promptness in delivery. Some people believe in their designed frame of sentiments; they discard the application for the first failure, stating those sentimental reasons. Therefore he must prompt the marketing department of the importance of regards for the culture of the customer. He must urge them for the deviation from uniform nature of dealing customers. Communication Channels Credibility of a business depends on the regularity of its existence. In Trend Micro’s software deal, customers are connected to a chain of action supported by a technically sound line of its staff. Spreading across different continents, the company requires the best sort out employees to fulfill its dreams of reaching the pulse of every computer user. This business is rather more active and livelier than any format, because, the user requires a continuous online support from technicians at different levels. Expiry and activation of existing software should be monitored by the responsible department with the aid of a prompt communication channel. The best medium of communication in this line of business is internet. Time and space do not matter as long as the deal is on line. Unlimited possibilities of online management of the product support the mechanism of a profitably managed business through internet. The use of well established internet system ‘helps to avoid overselling and other clerical errors’ (Erreygers, 2004, p.78). Where telephone and other means of communication fail to save time internet delivers goods and information with a single touch of the mouse. Transcontinental delivery of goods and repair of software is possible along with the communication channel as designed by internet. Conclusion From the descriptive ideas of making a profitable and largely expanded Trend Micro, I would like to conclude that every business requires conceptual contents similar to one another. The success of the business depends, however, on the effectiveness of their implementation. Software deal is surely a lucrative but challenging task. It harvests huge fame and fund once it gets clicked. Inspiring effort of the management for the application of the organization chart can hopefully find Trend Micro a better place in the software market. Reference Adams, B. (1996).
