The dynamism and complexity of the environment--as characterized by external pressures such as rapid-changing consumer preferences, more adept competitors and increasing prices of raw materials—requires P&G to create a unique organizational structure that will both enable it to ensure effectiveness, or to achieve its goals and business objectives; and efficiency, or to lower down the costs of doing business to maintain profitability and ensure proper allocation and use of its resources.
The unique organizational structure serves as one of its capabilities, and strengths in order to ensure success. Backed with clear strategies, P&G maintains market leadership and profitability that gives maximum returns to investors.
While P&G knows that its clever strategy and unique organizational structure will not be enough to meet business objectives, the company invests well in its people. Its people, as its claims are its core competitive advantage. It attracts great talents by ensuring diversity in its workforce. Also, with strategic compensation plans tied with performance and nonmonetary motivators, as well as best-in-class corporate pieces of training and people development programs, P&G is able to integrate HRM in its strategy to reach its business objectives. By making its people adopt its philanthropic business philosophy in order to encourage employees to make a difference, by the means of performing their jobs and/or participating actively in events the company sponsors for various causes make working for P&G a meaningful experience too.
One of these would be to emphasize on building customer-responsive culture.
