The business people claim to have spent most of their cash, just as Ilyas says “I have spent all my money on this shop…” Does one wonder who is to support, tenants or the faith municipality? The eviction process was successful in the Grand Bazaar and going by the Mayor’s words, Ottoman Market complex is no exception. The tenants will have to be evicted to pave way for “… ambitious renovation plans…”. All buildings, “…1,700 historic buildings…” will be renovated and turned into hotels.

The need for increased hotels results from the booming tourism sector. Business people in Cebeci Han, like Aziz Ozcan, says that “…we are not against renovations…” but are afraid of the rent increase. In spite of the turmoil experienced in turkey, Istanbul is transforming from a historic city into a theme park.
